who all uses peeps on their percussion guns.

I put a Vernier tang sight on the stock of my Zouave and a Lyman globe on front. I could give a hoot what anyone says, I like it. I think you guys meant no peeps for competition? At just a shooting range who would care?

Casting round balls using shotgun lead ?

My friend once gave me a bundle of shot so I added to my pot. Ruined all the lead in there, it all turned black and useless. Had to scrub the pot clean. If you're not sure it's pure lead, use it for other stuff.

    Nother Ped Enfield

I used a .575 Minie .500gr from a Lee mold and it was perfect and very accurate. The twist on that was 1-78. Also used Pyrodex and Goex, couldn't really see any difference in accuracy. Got an average of 950 fps. Oh yeah it was a P53 though. For the Zouave I need a .478 ball.

    Need help with revolver.

Yes makes sense. I did file the wedge a bit and things look good. Before I couldn't even let it stick out at all and was concerned it might follow the ball downrange. Thanks to all you guy for helping I think it's all cool now.

    Need help with revolver.

Thanks very much to you all. Rather not return it as being in Canada would upset the apple cart. New serial number would mean going through the whole registration mess which believe me is a mess. Will try your suggestions.

    Need help with revolver.

The problem is with my Dance Brothers revolver by Pietta. The barrel wedge if tapped in like it should be will not let it be fully cocked so I have to leave the wedge barely making contact with the RH side of barrel. Should I file the wedge down a bit? Not sure if that's the fix, don't want to...

    Pietta 1851 .36 needs reamed

I got the same attitude from them when I emailed about the bolt. Pedersoli went out of their way to help me about the rear sight on a P53 Enfield

    Black Powder Supplies In Canada

Higginson no longer sells percussion caps. For years I bought # 11's there and CCI musket caps, the good ones not the underpowered manure they sell now. The 4 wing I think it is.

    Black Powder Supplies In Canada

I've bought a Pedersoli P53 and 2 cap and ball revolvers from Marstar, they also have some parts . John sold out and the guys are great. I don't live far so I can order and p/u same day, except for handguns of course. Higginson Powders is close by too. Goex is a 2 hour drive, not Cabelas the...

    Pietta parts and fitting.

Thank you. I didn't know about the lowered water table. I did notice the cylinder stop itself is higher and the part that slips under the cam on the hammer has a different shape, not as curved it seems. I can't find a place that sells the proper bolt. I've read a lot about the original gun's but...

    Pietta parts and fitting.

I ordered extra parts that I know will be the 1st to fail on my new Dance Brothers revolver. The bolt is the only part that won't fit properly. Tried some file work comparing to the one that came with it but no luck. I've heard it's a common problem with new parts. Can't understand why they come...

    Hello from Cape Cod

Always loved it there. My Son's go to place. Don't feel like the drive anymore though, traffic is nuts trying to get there. But it would a wonderful place to live. People are very nice as are most folks in the States. I love your Country.

    Rust stopping oil

Original Colt loading and cleaning manual said to use hot water , dry and oil. I've always used that with good results. However muskets are not as easily cleansed. My Zouave never stops showing dirty patches until I plugged both ends and almost filled it with Fluid Film and let stand for a week...

    High prices of gun parts

I never made a rifle, but speaking of gun parts. I have to order most anything I need from the U.S. and it kills me. Canadian Peso is low and everything is made south of the border. BP guns here are inline's, little interest in BP revolvers also. But it's my hobby so I'll keep going. I do envy...

Safe to shoot roundball in a cap and ball revolver?

All the .44's I've had used a .454 ball, they were all by Pietta. Then again the one I just bought hasn't been fired yet, hope it's a .454 also, hate to buy a new mold.
