    Old French flintlock pistol

Im not familiar with this particular model, but the Wappen seems to resemble some of the early Wappens of Baden, the lions are typical for Bayern, but not France.

Pedersoli announce a .54cal 'Hawken target rifle...

Or the Indian non-firearms. BTW a used Indian over here in EU are being sold for 300 and less, talking about retention of value...

Pedersoli announce a .54cal 'Hawken target rifle...

I have a feeling they dont make any muskets right now. Havent seen a new 1777 or a 1766 for sale in Europe for a year now. The Prussian 1809 and the Lorenz are not available either.

    Estate sale pistol

Actually they are, pistols for cavalry were often produced in pairs and carried on the left and right side of the saddle. Fencing was also trained with both hands, depending on the army and time period and time available to train the recruits.

    1740 Potzdam Musket ID

Some VERY interesting pieces in You gun room thats for sure ! I understand the motivation behind the desire to collect them, Im after all a collector and reenactor too. What I was refering too with my question was why the Potzdam Musket is in Your eyes a good representation of a RW firearm ? How...

    1740 Potzdam Musket ID

ok, ok I have to poke this, why RW collection ? How many Potzdam muskets with a proven history have been preserved in the US from the RW ? How many are in museums ?

    1740 Potzdam Musket ID

Nice. So far what I see is checking out including the barrel length. One thing I have to say is that I have never seen an original 1740s wooden ramrod. If this thing is real, than that is a serious rarity.

    Enfield 1853 repro identification

The stock looks a bit like italian repro, but rest does not. I have a current Pedersoli P53 and this thing is nothing like it. Either its an old repro or it has been hugely reworked. It could also be a reworked Armi Sport or Euroarms, I never had those.

    How Indian flintlocks are made

For sure, I do agree that there were different levels of quality for different people. My rant comes more from a general frustration of people trying to justify buying Indian not-firearms with arguments about quality "back then". But then again, if we say that these guys are basically producing...

    How Indian flintlocks are made

I would take objection to the notion that these indian gunsmiths are making muskets the same way how it was done in the 18th and 19th century Europe. Thats a huge misunderstanding of how arsenals in Saint-Étienne, Tulle, Potzdam or Charleville actualy worked. These were purpose built...

    1740 Potzdam Musket ID

Nice musket ! All the markings seem to check out. Couple of points here. The Lock > DSE stand for David Splitgerbers seel. Erben *David Splitgerbers soul inheritance - basically son/sons. This marking puts the lock in the 1775 - 1795 period. The Stock > The plate ( Daumenblech ) was not used...

    24 Uberti 1862 Police unpack

Dont give up on Uberti because of this. They are generally good guns. I have been using their Colt 1873 long barrel and Winchester 1873 for years without a problem. I also have their Remington 1858 that was made in the 1970s and that is the only one that needed some work on the base of being in...

Please help me identify this potential 1600s flintlock pistol

There are people out there who collect Victorian-era tourist guns. But its a minefield.

Please help me identify this potential 1600s flintlock pistol

Nice booklet, however the Austrian BH mark is definitely not a Bundesheer mark used since 1891. That term was not used before 1920.

Marking Identification: New England Militia Musket

Well it could be some sort of a re-struck monarchs cypher, these were used in Europe as proof marks

    Indian Baker Rifle first impression

Not a fan of Indian guns (hard to get proofed in EU), but for 350 I would pick this one up any day. If not for live shooting, then just for reenactment. As for the dirty inner side of the lock, I have never had to clean the inner side of a Pedersoli lock. Good find.

    Help identifying unique flintlock pistol!

Im starting to believe its a crude copy of something like the French Mle 1733 or the Austrian Muster 1744, but of much lower quality. And Im ignoring the lock completely because I have no idea what that thing is. EDIT > Check the barrel. If its straight and properly made than atleas that part...

    Help identifying unique flintlock pistol!

The lock is not original to the pistol. The pistol has some Austro-Hungarian early 18th century feeling about it. Maybe a Turkish/Balkan copy of a Grenzer/Hussar pistol ? Or something cobbled together from parts ?
