How many Potsdam/Potzdam Muskets were found in US ?

So the title says it all. How many pre-1776 muskets made in Germany were actually found in US (or Canada) and have a provenance (eg arent post 1945 bringbacks etc). How many 1723s and 1740s, Suhls, Dresdens, Potzdams, You name it, are out there in museums ?

Sharing My Brown Bess - Looks to be somewhat Defarbed

Why are the brass parts reddish ? Were they cleaned in some sort of acid ?

Need help identifying this old muzzleloader

Its indeed a Swiss military rifle, although not sure how much was altered.

    Mystery Charleville Musket 1837??

You are right. I did put to much weight on the markings and got a bit of a tunnel vision. My assumption was that it is a put together with french parts in Neisse which was known for making these put together muskets before starting with the production of 1809/12. Landwehr markings with the...

    Indian Charleville M1777 AN IX

Im not sure I follow the issue with Pedersoli Butt plate. Here are two pictures of sealed patterns from the Paris Musse de l Armee (Les Invalides). Sorry for the bad light, its quite dark inside to preserve the sealed patterns.

    Indian Charleville M1777 AN IX

The price is driven mostly by salary costs. And whats wrong with the Butt plate ?

    Mystery Charleville Musket 1837??

Edit2 > Did You check the barrel ? Some were converted to rifling in the 1840s. The rifling is sometimes very shallow.

    Indian Charleville M1777 AN IX

Completely understand that. My point being that the Italian quality is not overcharged. Im also thinking about a Indian made 1740s Prussian musket, as its the only option on the market.

    Mystery Charleville Musket 1837??

Originaly a french 1777 captured either in 1806 or during the liberation wars in 1813-1815 and refurbished in the Neisse Arsenal to a percussion standard in 1837, then issued to a Landwehr unit (LWR on the stock). The FW is the name of the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. Since Prussia had a...

    Indian Charleville M1777 AN IX

What is the 1895 musket ? Was it the US 1795 ? I have to say that I dont think that Italian made muskets are overpriced in comparison to this umple de etiemie *based on the indian spelling presented here. For comparison Im posting a photo of my Pedersoli when it was brand new. That was 10 Years...

    1777 charlevilles on the frontier

There are a ton of firearms that have resemblance to or are nearly identical to the french patterns of late 1700s.

    To my Pre-Flintlock Friends >>>

Britain is not in the EU. Again, matchlock barrels are free to purchase in Germany. US is a great country, but I can still purchase and own all that You guys do, dont fall for the media BS. I will maybe open a discussion topic later to explain how it actualy works in the EU.

    To my Pre-Flintlock Friends >>>

You can check out some online stores in the EU yourself. All the conditions are there. CC permits and ARs are a thing in EU. Edit, go to www.frankonia.de and google Sharps or Enfield or Springfield and You will see that they only require a proof that You are 18+.

    To my Pre-Flintlock Friends >>>

Why would this have anything to do with the EU ? These type of firearms are not restricted in any way. Dont believe the fiction about EU gun laws that the media in the US is feeding You. Local firearms market is thriving and is driven by private purchase.

The Spanish Miquelet and Saxon over/under dual-lock Wheelock pistol

Why is this labeled as the only known Saxon double barrel ? As far as I know there are more in Dresden, although they might not be identical.

    Comments on this wheelock?

Very nice Carbine. There should be no additional pouch, only what can be seen in the picture, its a cavalry weapon after all.

    Pedersoli Baker rifle video

I didnt notice tgis news, but its great news realy, finally an off the shelf-proofed and ready to shoot Baker. This will make life easier for a lot of reenactors. Price is a matter of free liberal market. Most Pedersolli products are constantly sold out in Germany.

Historical military style rifled muskets poll

There are no limitations in EU on muzzleloading firearms aside of being of legal age as far as I know. There is no difference between a smoothbore or a rifled firearm. You can buy a Sharps or a Lorenz prety much online and let it deliver to Your door. What is regulated, is black powder in SOME...

    Revoling wheellock pistol

One practical example is that the swedish cavalry in the Great Northern War actualy did not use their pistols at all. They just endured the first enemy volley and then stormed in with swords while the enemy cavalry was reloading. And they prevailed most of the time.

    1728 French Lock?

Well. First instinct is 1746, but the two holes behind the cock are a bit odd. Also the cock on the old lock is sort of mishaped, but could be just poor quality controll back then. Can You make better pictures of the marking ?
