    Southern Style Percussion

Yes sir. It is a neat old gun. I imagine it was a flintlock at one time and was converted from the way the lock doesn't fit correctly. The old gun cleaned up good.

    Wooden Patch box

I will be a thanking you for all the information. I have thought about it a lot and did quite a bit of reseach this weekend. I have decided based on several answers here and my research to just leave both guns the way they were built. I am going to save my money and either have one built with a...

    Wooden Patch box

Thank you gents. I appreciate the info. Neither gun has a patch box of any kind right now. The smoothbore is already flat on the sides so it would be the easiest I believe from what you gents have told me. The Tennessee rifle is rounded a little so would require quite a bit more sanding and...

    Wooden Patch box

Ladies and Gents, I have always wanted a rifle with wooden patch box. I have owned a few custom built guns but never one with a sliding wooden patch box. It always seems to elude me. So my question for the qroup. Is it possible to have a wooden patch box added to one of my rifles? Or does it...

My First Build is Done - TVM Lancaster

I am not a rifle builder but from here it looks really nice and you did a great job. I used to have a .36 that looked alot like it . I let it go in a weak moment. Now after seeing yours I may have to give a kit a try myself. Congrats on a fine rifle!

    Flintlock Caliber Confusion

This is more of a question than a statement, but when I was younger an experienced black powder shooter told me when working up a load for any of my muzzleloaders to always take the caliber and cut it in half , and that was your starting point for a powder load. Example .50 to .54 start out...

    Books by Carl P. Russell

I hope this is the right place to post this but I recently found some books in an antique store that were by Carl P. Russell. Both were hard back books in their original dust covers. One was " Guns on the Early Frontier" and the second was " Firearms,Traps and tools of the Mountain Men". The...

Looks very nice. I had one once when I was a young un and it shot fine. I traded it for a Thompson Center and it didn't shoot a dang bit better. Good score and good luck with her!
