    Mackinac Island

Anyone heading up to the island this coming weekend (23rd-24th)?? It's supposed to be a big doin's, but it's their first bi-annual. I'm heading up there to 'vouz, but heard that they've had some run-ins with the fire marshall about camping. All I know is that they're putting a bunch of us up in...

    Barrel cleaning

Hi all! I've been shooting for quite a few years, and tend to pick people's brains at times. Right now, I'm using Thompson's Black Powder Solvent to clean my barrel. It takes about a dozen patches (many using both sides) to get the barrel down to what would be considered clean. I tried the...

    Any help on a "Charlotte"?

Now that I realize it's "harlot" and now "charlotte", that's a step in teh right direction. I will definately nose around and see if I can find that book. Thanks!

    Any help on a "Charlotte"?

Yeah... I guess now that you mention it, that does make a lot more sense!

    Any help on a "Charlotte"?

I'm not even sure if I'm spelling it right, but my fiance thinks she would get a kick out of portraying a "lady of the evening". Does anyone have any suggestions or sources we could look into? Right now, we're pretty much at a loss. Thanks! :v

    salt pork

I don't know how to highlight and quote a portion of a post yet, but I would definately have done it to your quote about your tongue beating your brains out. HEh heh heh heh! Thanks for giving me a chuckle this morning!

    Benchshooting Troubles

I don't have a problem putting them on paper from the offhand position. In fact, when I shoot offhand from 25 yards, I can usually keyhole two of the three shots, with the third one being in tight. The only problem is that the group (though tight) is high and left. At 25-30 yards, it's about...

    Wow! Lots of info!

The bench gave me shots that I could barely keep on the paper. Offhand gave me the tight groups I was looking for, but a touch high and left. At 30 yards, the balls might stay tight enough to keyhole, but the group is about an inch and a half high and the same distance to the left. I'm not...

    Wow! Lots of info!

The bench issue came up because of the location of my groups. I hold pretty tight groups, but they tend to be slightly high and left. I wanted to shoot from a bench to see if it was the sights, or if it was my trigger squeeze or follow-through. The problems arose when the groups I shot from a...

    Benchshooting Troubles

I think I know the answer to this, but would like some feedback. When it comes to shooting my .45 off a rest, my groups are HORRIBLE...like 8-10 inches at 50 yards horrible! When I shoot offhand, things tighten up to about 2 inches at the same distance. A two inch group isn't anything to brag...

    Cloak material problem

Thanks! I'll check it out. When I finally get this all put together, it's going on a prize blanket anyway. I might want to make two and keep the first one for myself, just in case.

    Cloak material problem

Good point on the Christmas tree skirt. The pattern in the book lays out a half-circle for the cape, with a half-circle cur out for your neck. There is also a shoulder piece and a collar that will come out of what is left over. Thanks for the help!

    Cloak material problem

With the circle pattern laid out, it will need a piece 5 foot wide by 10 foot long. That will take care of the cape itself. There is also a shoulder piece and a collar, but those will come out of what is left. I think I'm going to end up going to a military surplus store to find 2 identical...

    Cloak material problem

In one of the "Pakcet" series, I found a pattern for a type of watchcloack. It looks pretty good, and I'd like to make it out of a single piece of blanket-thickness wool. The problem is that I can't find the required 5 foot x 10 foot piece I need. My only other idea is trying to find two...

    ONTPR vs. Midwest

Any suggestions? I live in the thumb of Michigan, and have been to the Old North'sweat', as they call it, several times. It seems to be getting a bit smaller every year. Has anyone been to or heard anything about the Midwestern?? I've heard the Midwestern was kind of small, and Iowa is a long...

    carving a pipe?

I looked on Ebay and found catlinite pretty reasonable. I bought two nice good-sized pieces from the same guy and he even threw in a third piece of scrap to practice on. Two good pieces should yield four pipes altogether. Good luck with the dust! :v

    Model 1746 Charleville??

A 1734?? I've never seen nor heard of one, but I will definately nose around and see what I can find. Thanks!!

    Model 1746 Charleville??

Thanks for the info. I will have to do some digging around on the difference between the two "marines". I'm trying to portray a marine that would have been involved at Ft. William Henry, so I'll have to find a decent source to find out which group(s) was there. As far as the 1728 vs the 1746...

    Model 1746 Charleville??

Hi all... My persona is that of an ex-French Marine, and I was wondering about the 1746 Charleville. Am I wrong to assume that that gun would have been standard issue? If I'm not too far off-base, does anyone have a reccomendation as to where to look for one? Preferrably reasonsably priced...
