FOR SALE WTS Pedersoli 12ga double

I have seen competitors use these well at trap at the nationals at Friendship.

How do you load your fowler?

I have used original percussion shotguns since the 1960s. For 12 ga. I have used an ounce and 1 1/8th dipper for both shot and powder, at times called a square load. After powder I put in one of Mike's over powder wads. (Mike has had a booth at the nationals' at Friendship, Ind., for shotgun...

    Smoothbores, 12ga. vs. 20 ga. ?

I have used a 28 bore flint fowler. It is fun to use. A 15 ga. sxs percussion is good on clays. I like 12 ga. sxs originals that do well with clays. As for one being better than the other - it depends on what one is comfortable with.

    Considering a .40 caliber

I have used .40 caliber rifles over the years. I just did target work with them. Using 60 grains of fff and a 395 ball they would give good target accuracy out to 100 yards. Forty grains of fff worked well at closer ranges. Most of the time I used a .15 thousands patch. I have been using .40...

    Shotguns loading technique

I have participated in trap at the NMLRA matches for many years. Using the 12 ga., originals or a single barrel in line trap gun, I have used a 1 and an 18th shot dipper for both powder and shot. I have used black powder and substitutes. If you can not get Mike;s over powder wads use two over...

Do's and Don'ts when buying first BP shotgun

The Pedersoli doubles in 12 and 20 are in current production and do well. On the used market the single barrel 12 TC New Englander can be good.

    2f vs 3f

I have found 3f works very well in muzzle loading shotguns. At Friendship in trap matches using a single barrel, in-line trap gun with a modern Remington converted barrel one can shoot matches nearly all day with 3f. It seems to burn a bit cleaner than 2f for such use in trap.

    Why .40 cal?

The .40 is good for target work.

This is a nice Vincent. I had one made in .40 years ago. I has been a good performer.

    1861 Springfield

I did skirmishing with the '61 for a few years. Lyman had a target minnie mold. It made a lighter slug. A sizer was used. We used, for target work at 50 and 100 yards, 40 to 45 grains of fff. That load worked well on targets.

    Modern shotgun barrel conversion

I have been using a Beeson 12 ga. trap gun for years. It has an 870 barrel on it, closed action, a spring loaded bolt to hit the nipple in the solid breech. It is an in-line trap gun. I have used it on the trap range at Friendship for years.

    Dove shot size?

Using 7.5 would work well. If you can get some 7 shot it has around 10 or more percent inertia.

    An English Shotgun

I have one similar in 12 ga. It is a Birmingham proofed gun. I had it jug choked and used it for trap at Friendship. They are fun to use.
