    Barrel Concerns

Find what your rifle shoots best. My .54 shoots 75gr best. 50gr and up will kill a deer. Try starting at 50 and work up till you find the best load.

    3f Black powder in a 50 Cal.

If it shoots well in your rifle go for it. In my .54 3f shoots better than 2f  I know it is backwards but I go with what works in my rifle.

    tollerance for roundballs

I have weighed my balls in the past. I shot one target with weighed balls one with swaged balls and one with as cast. At 50 yards all were close. I hunt with swaged but my every day shooting is with cast wheelweights. :surrender:

    new fowler - I hope.

Happy you got the fowler back hope all problems are worked out. David I have had two builds by TVM. Was told a year on the last one took 9 months. Have been very happy with the guns. I am saving for a fowler or a .36 cal southern, will have Matt build it for me.

    Hunting with a BP Handgun

I have a .54 cal flint (TVM) that I carry as a backup hog hunting. Shot one last year with it. Worked alright, do not know if I would want to have it as my only weapon on a hunt.

    Load help needed

Try working up in small increments. My .54 shoots best with 70gr of 3F above that the groups open up. Small changes can make a big difference in accuratcy. All the deer I have shot with 70gr were pass through shots, so I can not see that more powder was needed. Work up the load for your rifle...

.45cal Late Lancaster on the way.....(sort of)

Roundball, Good luck it "only" took 9 months for my rifle but I felt like it was 3 years. Very good people to do business with. Also a good high quality rifle.

So, What pattern is my Longrifle? Virginia or PA? PICS

Great looking gun. Would have to go with southern rifle. Wood is very nice, I like the stock better than a true Tennessee. They kick like a mule with a full load. May not be PC but a great shooter.

    powder charge for deer

Work up the best load for your rifle. In my .54 I use 70gr of 3F. Have taken 5 deer in last two years all pass throughs. I do not see the need for more power. The key is bullet placement. I shoot the same load all the time wheather hunting targer practice ect.

    Crown Work Required?

Sawtooth the lock on my TVM rifle was tuned when the rifle was delivered. Do not know if TVM did it or not. I have two guns they built for me, and no problems at all. Shoot better than I do. If you have concerns give them a call.

My First Custom is a TVM VA

TVM is great to work with. I live 150 miles away so I drove over to place my order. Toni is a great help. My EV is .54 with a half round barrel. I also went for the iron, the brass may be more HC but the rifle was bult for deer and bear hunting. You will be happy with the work from them. I have...
