    I'm with Mike. Coat hanger is what I use for mild steel. The older the better and clean off any of the "varnish" some used to have.

    Not exactly the same but my uncle who is gone now repaired a lot of similar delicate parts like that. First he would turn a brass plug to fit the hole to keep the alignment and act as a heat sink. Weld it then file back to shape. He was a tool and die maker. I think I'd try to repair it before...

    .32 conicals

    Those are great bullets. Just not for a muzzleloader. I used to shoot with the previous owner of the company. Their main focus is "unmentionable" cartridges. I've shot a ton of those bullets and they are consistent and load great, but I don't think they're what your looking for.
