    Powder'n Nipples

I am not sure it would be neccessary and sounds like a PITA. I have a caplock Sharps that has a long fire channel and then has to burn through a layer of paper for ignition and it feels almost as fast as a modern cartridge. Thinking on it, I almost wonder if adding powder to the nipple might...

    Pedersoli Shotgun

Well, I will stay happy since I paid less than one fourth of that. I may never try the PRB, but it seemed a fun idea to shoot a "smoothbore".

    Chemicals for the GPR

Roundball, Were the stocks you finished your TC stocks? If so, I would agree that you don't want to stain them. When my TC comes back, it will be stripped and finished w/o stain. So far as the GPR stocks are concerned, they need staining. They are far too light. My stock was stained with...

    Pedersoli Shotgun

They are different. The left hand barrel in narrower at the muzzle. What charges do you folks use in your guns? I see on the bottom of the barrel that the max load is 89 grains of BP (I assume 2F) and 1 1/4 oz of shot. What size ball would one shoot to shoot PRB?

    Pedersoli Shotgun

Well, it is a Pedersoli 12 guage. Generally in really good condition and it was good buy. I assume one side is a modified choke and the other full. "Where is dat waskel wabbit?"

    Pedersoli Shotgun

Rocky, I am not sure, I only saw it once and didn't look close then. I think it was 12 guage. I will look closer. The price is so reasonable, I may buy it no matter what.

Is brownin' a barrel any good?

Spot Shooter, My work ran me $65 for everything. Barrel and all the furniture, save the trigger assembly and the polished cap. Shop around as the price can vary widely. Make sure you do all the metal polishing prep work yourself as this will impact the price significantly. If you can, check...

    Pedersoli Shotgun

Well, there is a used one at a local shop that I have the opportunity to purchase. That I recall, it is in generally good condition and it looks very much like the Pedersoli SxS shotguns that I see them make. There are no markings as to who the manufacturer might be. Looking around, the only...

Has anyone had experience with the Pedersoli SxS shotguns? I am looking at possibly buying a used one.

Is brownin' a barrel any good?

Despite my choice, browning would be the best choice for ease of maintenance, cost, durability and being PC. I went with the bluing I did because I prefer that look and I wanted the finish in all the nooks and crannies that are hard to reach with a brush-on finish.

Your GPR kit will come with the jag. It isn't a great one (kind of short), but certainly works in a pinch.

Just covering bases here, have you tried the larger Sutlers or the NSSA?

    Finshed GPR

Doublegun, I had to get the bluing done myself. I took it to a local guy who does just metal finishing. I could have did browning myself, but I have not been bitten by the PC bug yet and I simply like bluing better. Of course, I may not have seen a good browning job yet. So far as hours, I...

    Lyman GPR Kit Help

Spot Shooter, Some of my comments on building it you can find under the post in the photos section called "Finished GPR". The kit did not come with any finishes for the metal or the wood. I used tru-oil and linseed oil for the wood and I sent the metal out for finishing. Good luck on the...

I am positive it will shoot better than I can, so I have no doubt that she's a keeper.

    Lyman GPR Kit Help

Spot Shooter, I have to give kudos to this forum for the inspiration and information I used to make the same decision. I will only say this, for a first time kit/project, I was discouraged the first moment I saw the kit and how much work was needed. It passed over time and now I would not...

    Finshed GPR

Correct, over and above the surface of the metal. You have to use some decent sanding blocks on the wood while the metal is still installed to bring both surfaces even w/o rounding the wood to metal edges. Lyman states that they have left that wood for the builder to do extra things. I would...
