Got my first deer with a flintlock

At least you got a damn good story from a shitty start of a morning hunt. If your muscles are still sore icy hot is your friend

Fusil de chasse a cheek slapper?

You did a fine job! I’ve been eyeing the pecatonia kits but drilling the barrel pins makes me too uncomfortable. I’ve done it before on a traditions gun and did alright even though I was using a craftsman battery drill. I’d rather not do it myself unless I acquire a drill press. And I’ve never...

Fusil de chasse a cheek slapper?

Luckily mine aren’t that prominent, what you shooting with those 60ish grains? If shot what size?

Fusil de chasse a cheek slapper?

I don’t plan on doing any bare ball loads which usually call for high powder charges

Fusil de chasse a cheek slapper?

After looking at some Fusils with their LOP being around 15 I went and compared it to my rifle and with 15 it would be too far and uncomfortable. I messaged my potential builder and asked about length of pull and I was told it could be whatever I wanted so that was a relief.

Fusil de chasse a cheek slapper?

I’m starting to save up money for a custom built gun and the Fusil de chasse has caught my eye but I’ve heard it likes to slap your face hard with recoil. Is there any truth to that? Should I end up getting something else?

    So..... why a muzzleloading?

Y’all will probably find this funny. My interest in muzzleloading started with me playing a civil war game on my computer, it’s pretty realistic so the rifles in the game look exactly as their real life counter parts. After starting to play the game I started watching videos on youtube and...

    Update on my flintlock flinch

Thanks to everyone’s tips in my previous thread. I spent the week applying wood finish to my barrel channel, so I can use RIG on the bottom of my barrel. Due to that didn’t have time to make a wood shaped flint to practice dry firing, but I really focused on seeing my target and holding the...

First time flintlock shooting with my Woodsrunner

Good to know, the original amber flint had bevel down, I installed the English With bevel up since if it was down it would hit near the top of frizzen. I faintly recall hearing you want it to ideally hit somewhere close to the middle of the top 1/3 of the frizzen.

First time flintlock shooting with my Woodsrunner

I just installed a new English. I cut a square slot on my flint leather to pull it back slightly and this is as square of contact I can get but it has to have a slight turn. 2nd photo is the overall length after cutting the slot. And the video doesn’t seem to be slamming the frizzen, and barrel...

First time flintlock shooting with my Woodsrunner

Barrel clearance is good and my flint has to be slightly turned to the left in the jaws to make square contact with the frizzen

First time flintlock shooting with my Woodsrunner

Man that flintlock flinch is no joke, from fifty yards I only hit my poster board 5/10times and somewhat close to my 6in shoot N&C target about 5-6” low and right with one flyer 12” left. I realize how much range time I’ll need to try and correct my issue. I plan on having my shooting partner...

    Kibler Woodsrunner has arrived

I’ll maybe try some carving on a future kit but man I’d like to get my brass looking as good as yours, I’d need another few days of sanding for that, but I do kinda like the “rough” look
