new to the sport - is traditions deerhunter okay?

I had quite a bit of trouble setting the flint if I used the neat, straight-edged, diamond -cut flints, mine functions well though with knapped flints.

new to the sport - is traditions deerhunter okay?

Hey, I like my Traditons Deerhunter, too. I also used it to introduce both of my kids to Black Powder. Mine has a roundball twist though, and I don't think that Traditions makes this model with 1:66 rifling anymore. FYI my 13 year old daughter used the gun in the early season eventhough I had a...

50 cal roundball FFF load 170 grs.

Welchman, I have a current Lyman owners' manual, I purchased the gun about a month and a half ago. The current manual lists the maximum load for a .490 round ball as 70 grains. I think the primary reason for the reduction of load recommendations is the question of legal liability...

    PA Pellet Flintlock

It doesn't seem to have anymore of a hangfire than either of my Traditional Flintlocks. None of that matters anyway now. I am proud to announce that she ask if she can use my gun instead. It's a BP only flinter; so this year at least the pellet rifle will stay home.

    PA Pellet Flintlock

Sorry about the confusion I typed the right name in the subject of my post but screwed it up in the body. Here's some more info regarding pyrodex and flintlocks: 1) It can be loaded with regular BP or loose Pyrodex, or Triple 7, either loose or in pellets. 2) Loading it with pellets...

    PA Pellet Flintlock

Actually the advantage I saw in Pyrodex was that since my daughter wanted to hunt with a flintlock, I wouldn't have to worry about her measuring powder accurately, and she would be able to load it much more easily after firing. I'll let you know how this theory works in practice. I know she...

    PA Pellet Flintlock

Does anyone have a Traditions Pennsylvania Rifle? I just purchased one, and the trigger pull seems to be extremely heavy. Has anyone else had this problem? Is the trigger adjustable? I bought this rifle for my daughter and I think the trigger pull will be a serious problem.
