    A Lion in the Camp.

If there’s so few as to be deniable then why the heck should there be an eradication or management plan? These things are naturally occurring. Dunno why people are so keen to remove anything that may cost em a small amount of money some day. Edit to add: I love this video :D

why I like shooting muzzle stuffers

Don’t forget the wonderful smell of black powder in the air 😇

    .45 Cal effectiveness?

I have a lot of respect for someone who shares and openly admits a less than ideal shot. Deer on the ground, meat on the table. Beatiful work, my good man!

    Barrel steels

Here’s a video of a friend making one. He’s done barrels for centerfire rifles and muzzleloaders (just personal use)

I shot the big barr just not with my smoke pole

Over here we use Bull Arabs, another bully breed like the pit bull. If they try and lug in anywhere other than an ear they get a kick in the ribs. Ears the safest place for them to grab and the only location they should go for. You’re right, it’s jolly good fun though I do feel for the pigs...

    Pet Peeves

Oh I thought of a couple more: Chest beaters, one uppers and thread pirates. They all typically are the same person. (Thread pirate = someone who steals a thread from an OP to make it about themselves instead).

    Pet Peeves

I think the use of inlines during muzzleloader season is an abomination of the point of it. Having said that I’m not against them entirely, just during that season. Pet peeves.. Reading people making assumptions about muzzleloader performance or lack of on game without ever having used one...

    Any Side Slapper fans here?

Thanks guys! I really like the look of mule ears, didn’t realise they had a following :) glad to see it though. I’d like to make one in .40 as a hare/fox gun. One day!

Post em up! Would love to see some “mule ear” guns, both new and old. I see you can buy a modern lock.

    Experimental Muzzle-loading Percussion Rifle??

Bayonet lug near the muzzle. I’d say it’s likelt it was an attempt at a military contract.

    Hi from Aus

What sort of consistency is one aimed for? I like the idea of home made rather than store bought

    Hi from Aus

Thanks everyone. I missed the cleavers guns it seems. Been quite a bit of banter in this thread since I last checked it! Got 560 x .490 RB’s. A friend reckons the patching material is the cause of my woes. Gunna have to find something a bit more tightly woven he reckons. Edit: what’s a good...

Zephyr? I’d love to see pics of your rifle :)

    Elephant hunting with underhammer

If you’re referring to the muzzleloading kind - 8 bore is the recommended minimum for African elephant (0,835”, 875gr ball) although in Asia I can’t recall who it was, but (was it Forsyth?) is quoted as saying a hardened 14 bore will shoot through and through the skull of an Asian elephant.

Did I make a good score?

A dremel is a gunsmiths best friend. Used right it can do a lot of work for them. Used wrong by bubba and it makes a lot of work for them too :D

    Elephant hunting with underhammer

I’m bumping this, I know it’s from 2006 but does anyone have this article? I’d love to get a copy (if you could take pics and email?). Cheers

    Hi from Aus

Hey guys and gals. Little introduction: I’m Troy from Australia. Not much experience with muzzleloading. I’ve got a Dikar “Missouri” .50 but I can’t get it to group and only had 10 or so balls. So got a few hundred coming in a couple weeks and then I’ll try some suggestions from people to try...
