    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Our weather is looking up but I have family coming in Saturday to stay through Thanksgiving. I and the grandsons will get something done. Would love to get after some Aberts. Meanwhile, my little Pineys get no respect 😒

Opinions on product for glass bedding a stock that was overcut by a newbie

I always thought that maybe some hide glue and sawdust might have found it's way back in the day. If you plan to use it in international competition, the use of most of the modern solutions will disqualify the weapon.

Another .36 cal Rifle from a Plank

So..... After all my fruitless struggles, I finally find out that it IS rocket science. 🤓 That trick with the pivot tower for the trigger is pure gold.

    Another name for #40 drill?

I use the #40 almost exclusively but this is every bit as good. https://www.meininger.com/canvas/

    Another name for #40 drill?

I was under the impression that the 40 refered to threads per inch.

    Best Animal fat for lube?

Yup! Saves me the trouble of finding and killing one of those exotic animals or tracking down their fat at the local meat department. Morrell does all the dirty work for ya. It's one of three lubes I use depending on what I'm up to.

Was Dutch right about wiping between shots?

We do that type of contest here in the west. It's called a mountain man run. No wading in the creek cause there is not usually one around. A shoot that i haven't attended does a canoe shoot. Meaning of course that the shooting is from a canoe.

Was Dutch right about wiping between shots?

Wiping between shots is an acquired skill. It's not complicated as long as the shooter consciously varys the dampness of the patch until it's simply known what degree works.

Was Dutch right about wiping between shots?

You are definitely on the right track and there's never enough testing...... we'll, at least to a point. 😂 I think if you try dawn/water at 05/95 or 10/90 you might see a big change compared to your first target. Simple Green is something I've never tried. I've been put off of it due to the...

    Load Database

There are many variables to consider. Some that won't even come to mind and therefore will be exerting influence but will not be known. Just an example; I compared velocities of two 54 caliber rifles on the same day with exact same components in the loading. I even alternated the rifles as I...

    How many....

With all due respect for Idaho Lewis's shooting achievements, which i think are amazing, patches that burn up are indicative of other problems.

Opinions on product for glass bedding a stock that was overcut by a newbie

I use this stuff. https://www.kennysarchery.com/finish It's pricey but in my case I have it on hand for other purposes. I'm pretty sure acra glass gel is the same stuff.

Anybody use a Kutzall wood rasp?

I use a farriers rasp. It calls for caution, but otherwise it's very useful.

    Sight Placement, Especially Rear

With that peep, I'd say move towards the breech. They are more effective as they get closer to the eye. If it were me, and I'm aware that not all of my opinions are not shared, if staying with a peep style I'd switch to something adjustable for vertical adjustment. Downside, it won't...
