    Three weeks!

The beauty is that everything everyone is worried about, the salts and perchlorates, are completely dissolved and flushed away. No more iron cancer. 👍🏻 The spiced rum makes it even less a chore. Mixed or straight. I was never one for fooling around so strait is fine by me.

There done, no harm done. I cleaned it when I wanted, not because of fear dictating terms! Another myth busted.
  3. Britsmoothy

    Three weeks!

And the finest grade too. It's like dust. I only need a little over half volume to shot!
  4. Britsmoothy

    Three weeks!

Four weeks and I think I'm going to clean it today. No rust at all anywhere.

No not really. I'm just trying to dispell the fear some have about the need to clean a muzzleloader as soon as possible. Use the right lube during shooting and keep it warm and dry when not in use and nothing bad will happen. The next time the weather has me stuck indoors I might clean it then...

    Three weeks!

Took the 10g out again, still fouled! Three shots for three on the wing after three weeks fouled. I left the hens be.

Range Test of My GRF 20ga. SB with a .572" RB

I remember my .63 doing quite well with a .562 and two thick patches.

    Rust protection.

If I had to do that I'd pack up muzzleloading. Flash rusting as ye call it is not a problem and no oil from the ground goes anywhere near a gun of mine that uses black powder. Don't any of you wonder how they did it half way up a frozen mountain?

    12 Gauge questions

I'm sorry to hear of your plight. It's no fun getting old. I fear it more and more everyday. In fact most nights it keeps me awake! I don't know what's going on about the muzzleloader but hey, it doesn't really matter. Thank you though for explaining Ken. 🙏

    Rust protection.

Flash rusting is a non issue compared to accidentally leaving some salts in there but if your good. Recently I've taken to not even cleaning at all but I do keep the fouled gun warm and dry and it's shot using my lube.

OK. Hot water dissolves salts quicker and more thorough but heyho if it touches a nerve....

So how do get all the salts out?

    Rust protection.

If the fats, wax or oil are animal or plant based the " contaminates" are held in suspension permanently. And if you do want the bore squeaky clean just use very hot water. Everything comes out then. Including lead!

If you want a sent just choose an essential oil online of your choosing.
