    Small caliber smoothbore?

Still works , the itty bitty.45 took two pigeons today for two shots off the wing. One was lost in thick cover 🙄.

    1851 navy hunting

I didn't put the video on to advocate that.

Aye, I never mentioned how slow it may work. But work it will. It may also be instant. I'd like a good dog handy.

Despite the figures a soft lead ball at them velocities won't flatten out and thus go deep enough if no shoulders are involved.

These are pictures of hares I took many years ago now.

I also chop, fry and then stew rabbits and hare. Simple is best. Not to gamey at all. The secret with rabbits is removing the scent glands in the hams either side of the tail bone.

This is a hare I took last year.

Yes Sir, I am holding a rabbit , Oryctolagus cuniculus. The brown hare is larger and does not burrow. Lepus europaeus. The Scottish mountain or blue hare is different again. Lepus timidus scoticus. And the Irish hare is also unique. Lepus timidus hibernicus. The UK recently had a near nation...

    Small caliber smoothbore?

I use between 1/2- 3/4 oz in mine, any thing from 7.5-#4 shot. Just thin cards Vis a leather punch for wads. Adding a lube helps . Fine powder 4 or 3f and not much of it. How many photos do you want?

They can get a little bigger here. Bear in mind the camera lens plays tricks. The lens even makes the long rifle look huge compared to me just because it is that little bit closer to the lens.

Jess says thanks 😁. Rabbit my friend. Thank you.

I went rabbit hunting today. Nothing special but the gun, my .45 smooth rifle was still fouled from its last outing. I just patched the bore with my homemade lube.

    Latest addition to the herd

Can't help sorry. Looks in good condition though. Especially the bore. What letters on the lock plate do you see?

Ok in that case I suggest upping the shot but keep the powder the same. The reasoning is to make the powder work harder and thus be more consumed before the muzzle. Partly why I like 4f. I know you dont want to use more shot but if its not shot everyday you may not notice the extra consumption.

Have you tried just three thin cards? If you are economising for your needs, I'd look at dropping the charge some more. Even use 4f and less of it. How many shots at game do you anticipate to shoot a year?
