The Traditions Kentucky and the P.A. Conical

My 1:48 Traditions Hawken shoots them very well too. Same point of impact as round ball at 50 yards with 80grs. of 2F , using 70 grs. 2F with RB . Did you wipe off the heavy lube/grease before loading ? That's my only complaint, that sticky, tacky, heavy coating of "lube" on these bullets. I...

Oh, Come On With the Inflated Caps!!

Saw a tin of 100 for $12.99 at Dunham's the other day. $13 must be the new norm

Ignition speed between flint and percussion

Variables, variables, variables; so many variables . Not even from gun to gun but from shot to shot. Like it or not the cap lock has less variables and by default will be more consistent. These test were also done under ideal conditions, factor in 85% humidity and damp conditions and you widen...

Muskrat & other fur belt & possibles bags

I have used my furs to make many things. I made an arrow quiver from an otter for a friend. Muskrats make great small pouches and bags and are easy to work with.

    Precision Shooting....??? Maybe......

Great video. A realistic, honest day at the range. You could have shot 87 rounds to get one thru the hole and then edited the video , but you kept it real with klatches, misfires. dryball and all. You're the man Mark, keep up the good work.

    Price of flints going up

I don't think I was "b-tching" or ranting, merely pointing out the fact the price of flints has going up .

    Price of flints going up

Not sure, for me beaver prices were a little better this year. I got between $35 and $50 for finish skins. These were from 35 to 50 lbs animals so oddly enough it came out to be about $1 a pound. Castor however has dropped from a few years ago. This was from the state auction sale.

What's the purpose of this screw on my TC flintlock

That's a TC Firestorm made to use Pyrodex pellets and has a "quick/easy" removable breech plug like a modern inline. The screw likely is a locking/clocking screw. The Firestorm is the same concept as the Traditions PA Pellet rifle or newer Shedhorn, a combination of traditional and modern features.

Traditions Kentucky Rifle, really not a bad gun

Try Deer Creek Products. Good people ,lots of new old stock CVA parts.

    Save your money...

Yep, people like to clump it in with modern gun oils but it's really a water displacing solvent. While it does lubricate and protect from rust, those aren't it's intended purpose. Worked great inside a damp distributor cap back in the day.

Fur. Except beaver, slightly up ; about everything else crashed a few years ago.

It has the slight sweet smell of Hoppe's 9 but not quite as strong. It's a water based cleaner and the bottle has a warning not to allow it freeze. Kind of milky colored, reminds me of water based coolant I used when machining brass and aluminum . It has a slickness feel to it when you rub your...

    Price of flints going up

The black English flints at Track of the Wolf has gone up from $2.60 to $3.20 and French amber are up to $3, I think they were $2.40 a month ago. Not sure if other suppliers are going up too, but usually TOW sets the trend. I got a good supply of flints and like caps, it is what it is; but man...
