    Schutzen 3F thoughts

60 grs Schuetzen 3F with .490" ball and .015" lubed patch in my Traditions 1:66 Kentucky rifle. I see no difference between Schuetzen or Goex other than schuetzen seems to leave slightly less fouling.

Shooting patch sizing, ball diameter or bore diameter ?

All my rifles are 50 cals and I've always used precut patches marked ".50 to .59 caliber". Today as I was stocking up on supplies at TOW I noticed they list the same patches marked ".40 to .49 caliber" . I shoot a .490" ball and just wondered if one is better than the other or if both could be...

    Priming powder for flintlock

Any black powder will work in the pan. Tests have been done with high speed equipment and the difference is below human perception for 2F, 3F ,and 4F . 4F in a primer flask it what most use and it works well for that purpose, a pound of 4F will last longer than you. After I got my flintlock...

    Priming powder for flintlock

Here's another example, skip to 9:00, 14:00, and 17:25 minute mark to see results. He's using it in the pan as well as main charge.

    Would you trust these threads?

But were those blow outs cause by removing the nipples for routine cleaning or are they from being over torqued, corroded in, wrong thread size, cross threaded, etc. ? I would say those were cases of "operator error" , not from removal during cleaning.

    Would you trust these threads?

See the post on the froze up and stuck nipple for the guy that belonged to the " I never take the nipple out to clean " bunch. ;)

UPS has outdone itself. I'm actually impressed by how massive of a failure this is, even Kiblers famous crates are no match! INSURE YOUR STUFF FOLKS!

UPS workers ratified a labor deal worth $30 billion in wage increases and other benefits. The wage increases will make full-time UPS delivery drivers the highest paid in the U.S. The deal ends the threat of a potential strike that could have disrupted deliveries and sent shipping costs soaring.

Flintlock pistol rested across arm safe ?

Just curious, was a two hand hold , like how we hold modern pistols, a common practice in the 18th or was the one had hold fully extended the norm ?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

You've come to the right place. I have the flintlock version of that rifle I built from a kit. I took a deer with it year before last using 60 grains of 3F black powder, .018" pillow ticking patch lubed with mink oil, and a hand cast .490" round ball . It dropped in it's tracks at 35 yards...

.32 Kentucky rifle and water jug test

Saw your video on YouTube, interesting results. Any idea on the velocity with this load ? I would have thought some deformation. However, with my 50 cal pistol with 25 grains of 3F, the ball don't deform either. I estimate velocity at around 700-750 fps out of my pistol.

Saw something weird. don't know where to post this

I thinks it's called the PA Pellet flintlock, I assume it's legal to use in Pennsylvania flint lock season. It has a removable breach plug and fiber sights. Must have some appeal, been around for a while. Stocks come in wood, black plastic, and camo plastic. Faux fur **** skin hat sold separately.
