    WASP NEST WADDING?

You can use the actual nest part , its like wasp nest but there is usually so much of the outside stuff its not necessary and the inside part , the actual nest , can have grubs in it ... not a good thing to have in your bore :) ...

A fowler for round ball accuracy

    Ok ???

    Smooth bore metal finish

The majority of American fowlers would be browned . On orders for N.W. trade guns , this order in 1780 they ask for half the order to have blued barrels the other half to have browned barrels . Late 18th and early 19th you see blued barrels mentioned .

A fowler for round ball accuracy

On thinner barrels it can be an issue but the vast Majority of barrels are too thick and heavy anyway ,compared to original trade guns which are very light , so ....you can dovetail for a rear sight . I think the rear sight really helps a lot . Ive seen it in action at many shoots. For old eyes...

    Stock Finish Other Than "Brown"?

Always have a test piece or two and try some different things and see what you like ....or under the buttplate if no test piece . I just love the natural wood color , most of the time , so its easy for me .... Shellac or varnish coats ....DONE ! :) I sure love walnut for my trade guns ....

    Poor man’s guns

Famous gun builder Ken Netting makes my barrels and they are wonderful ....I mean ....very dangerous and will likely ki!! the person shooting the gun . Thank you for the nice words ....take care

    Poor man’s guns

I know how you feel . I just answer a simple question and tell how I would like to help folks make less expensive , good flintlocks and I get told I dont know what I'm talking about from some narcissistic d0%&#e who isn't even a builder . I'll never do that again . ... No more contributing to...

A fowler for round ball accuracy

Larry Zornes barrels are extremely accurate with round ball as well . Probably the most accurate smoothbore barrels ive ever seen . He is in Jackson Ohio , he's in the book . Tell him I sent ya ....great barrels !!

A fowler for round ball accuracy

.... :) Ken Netting barrels . You shouldn't use them though , the metallurgy is all wrong according to M De Land on here so they are death traps . Dont use any Wallace Gusler forged barrels either . Hand forged wrought iron is even weaker ....

A fowler for round ball accuracy

Ahw !! Not possible with smoothbores !! :D

    Modern shotgun barrel conversion

A few short N.W. guns I've made from barrels that were originally going to be cartridge firearms ... I should have checked with M. De Land and seen if the barrels were safe to use first . They will probably all explode and maime or kill the shooter ... Man ! He is SO smart !!

    Modern shotgun barrel conversion

Not very modern but was going to be a cartridge shotgun barrel , double barrel . Ive used many of them to make shorter N.W. trade guns . I just breech them , square side of breech goes down , then the usual ...put the flats on at the breech , rings and stamps at appropriate spots , barrel...

    Smoothbore wadding ...

Ive used leaves and green grass before ...works fine . Green stuff obviously gets harder to find later in the season . I got plenty of hornets nest wadding .
