    Rust protection.

    I clean it with water , 3 dry patches , then dip one of those dry patches in motor oil , not too much ... Push it to the breach , tooth brush scrub the pan and general area , wipe dry same area ... pull oil patch out , wipe barrel length , pan and lock ...anything else iron ...Never had any rust...

    Like ... Make Caywood kits only ? No thanks ... I dont put together kits on a regular basis and I build my N.W. guns from scratch . Mr. Caywood s kit N.W. trade gun is the same price as my finished scratch built N.W. trade gun ....

    Yep ... Mr. Caywood makes a beautiful trade gun ! I bought one someone had built from a kit , they did a bad job building it ...I rebuilt it and ...I was really impressed with that trade gun .... Gorgeous and good lock and barrel ! Wish I had kept it ! LOL ....

    Made barrel lugs from some correct sized sheet , after looking every where for the right metal and not finding it at ANY store ! ....found some scrap under the bench .... geesh ... Laid out the lug positions and R.R. pipe positions , marked barrel ....cleaned up spots on barrel ...soldered lugs...
