Food for thought on smaller calibers for hunting big game.

I worship the crushing overkill of the .62 round ball rifle. I don’t care much about the efficient use of powder or lead, because I might get just a few shots at big game all season/ year. I want every shot to be the best it can be, not be “probably good enough.” This .45 talk sounds like that...

    WANTED WTB, breech plug

Good luck. I bought a new hooked flintlock breech plug from Rice 18 months ago and paid over $100. Beautifully machined of stainless steel. Cost almost as much as a barrel cost a couple years ago. So I hope you are successful

    Scottish Deer Rifle

Hey man. You know I concur with you because you read and responded to my comments. I think it’s probably a custom rest for one user’s particular physical ailment or deformity.

SOLD MLF fundraiser item for auction

Sorry but Andy52 upped the bid to $15 even. Thank you very much for supporting the website. Your participation alone helped, as did your humorous observation about not winning anything. I share that sad fact with you

SOLD MLF fundraiser item for auction

Thank you to everyone for supporting the MLF as best you can, whether it’s with an auction donation here or reciting the rules or making a direct donation. I will be donating other items in the future, including a or maybe even some curly maple gunstocks or wood. I have a timber harvest going...

SOLD MLF fundraiser item for auction

I believe gun builders use pencils to lay out their cutting and inletting lines. If this pencil bothers you, feel free to not participate in its auction. Or donate your own MLF fundraising item, time, and shipping contribution.

We have a very generous bid here of Ten Dollars, thank you very much. I think you will end up with it tomorrow, this is a pretty cheap crowd. :D

SOLD MLF fundraiser item for auction

You need a vintage Craftsman Sears shop pencil from 1963 to go with all that shiny stuff ya got there. I used it to draw a straight line on a board i was cutting the other day. Felt pretty neat.

SOLD MLF fundraiser item for auction

This neat pencil should appeal to the three guys on this site who remember what Sears was. I found this in a bunch of old stuff in a barn and it is being auctioned off here as a fundraiser for this website, the Muzzleloading Forum. Auction closes tomorrow Friday at noon EST. Last high bidder at...

CLOSED Want To Buy a Cannon!

We bought two from a foundry in Idaho. One is the swivel gun like what you posted. About 36 inches long, 1.75" bore, two ounces of FG will send a golf ball about 800 yards and make a bang that gets the entire valley's attention. We also got a copy of the Parrott rifle, which is five feet long...

    Rice's new Nock lock

RE Davis Late British flintlock arrived today. Couple observations: Even with uneven, rough casting edges on both surfaces (see below), the roller frizzen is really fast; plenty of rough/uneven edges from the casting process that will require careful filing and smoothing. Here are some photos...

    The .62 rifle took a 2022 deer

I intend to squeeze every last iota of 100 yard kills out of my aging eyes as I can. It makes me so very happy

    The .62 rifle took a 2022 deer

Intriguing. I did have it zeroed dead-on for 100 yards. It's that last 25 yards beyond that I need to figure out. It appears that the 335-grain lead ball is perfectly centered in the bullseye at 100 yards, and then drops like a cinder block a couple yards beyond that distance.
