    Tumbling balls in soapy water

The balls I cast shoot fine without tumbling but I am old and have nothing better to do. I tumbled a bunch in graphite but they were kinda messy I tumbled a bunch dry but they were messier than the graphite I tumbled a bunch with a squirt of WD 40 and they were just plain nasty I read on here a...

    Another Kibler Hog

I’m color blind also. For 50 years I bow hunted 95% of the time. I always kept a top notch tracking dog. Now I am too old to shoot a bow and my dog is too old to trail anything

    Skinner sights on a muzzleloader

I had a couple of different skinner sights. One was mounted on the receiver and worked very well. The other was mounted in the dove tail and I didn’t care for it. To me, the closer you can get it to your eye, the better it works.

    Another Kibler Hog

Shot this pig last night. I started into the thicket but after the second time I fell I decided I didn’t want him bad enough to break a hip, so I backed out. Went back this morning with Lisa Sullivan Thomas and She picked up the blood and off we went. It took a couple of hours to work her way...

Taking a flintlock rifle to South Africa

Not worth the risk….. 20 years ago folks would empty out shot gun shells, fill them with powder and recrimp them. Once the first person was caught, they knew to look for it. you might slide right through, you might get caught and spend 10 years in an african prison or something might ignite the...

Taking a flintlock rifle to South Africa

I have been fighting the same battle. I Believe you can do it and I have a hunt booked for July 2025. There is a black powder brand call Obatex that can be bought by your outfitter around Johannesburg. From what I read it is hotter than goex and they recommend you back off on your load and work...

    Kids under 12 hunting.

I started taking my kids as soon as they were out of diapers, they were doing the shooting by the time they were 6. There is nothing I am more proud of than the things I have been able to share and teach to my grandson. Started hunting at 4, shooting at 6. I am old and might die any old time but...

    Kids under 12 hunting.

I guess I have just been lucky with the three sons I raised, my 6 grandkids and the youth hunt we put on every year. If you are not taking kids hunting you are missing out on one of life’s greatest pleasures

    Kids under 12 hunting.

I think it is all about where and how they are raised….. My oldest grandson was pretty much raised here on my hunting ranch. If you ask to see his rifle, 100% of the time he will open the bolt and say”I see clear” before he hands it to you. He is 17 but was thought to do it when he was very...
