    Best Animal fat for lube?

I just use bear fat. No salts in the fat to cause corrosion to the metal. It works in hot or cold weather. That bottle is a life time supply. Ohio Rusty ><>

    One side or two

When I finger lube my patches, I can't help but get it on both sides as I massage the lube into the patch. It will soak through to both sides anyway so I guess it is both sides. Ohio Rusty ><>

    #11 caps

I had that issue with my .32 crockett rifle. The nipple that came with the gun was too small for #11 caps so I promptly changed to a proper fitting nipple. Ohio Rusty ><>

Since .662 (16 gauge bore diameter), .662 is 16.8 in millimeters. A 17 millimeter wad punch is probably as close as you can easily get that is currently made. Your wad sizes should come out to .669. Ohio Rusty ><>

Best way to unload after an unsuccessful hunt?

I just pull the roundball with a bullet puller, then use that bullet puller to break up the compressed charge in the breech area. Clean like normal. Cleaning is actually easier as you don't have any powder fouling to contend with. Ohio Rusty ><>

    Lubing Maxi Ball

Back when I had my T/C hawken, I used maxi bullets. I filled all the lube grooves top and bottom with bore butter then wrapped the lubed bullet in wax paper and twisted a crimp on both ends. When I needed a bullet, I tore off the bottom crimp and the bullet easily squeezed out into the end of...

    Voting sign target frames

With the close of the polls, the voting signs are free for the taking. If you find the ones with the hard cardstock, not the flimsy plastic ones, the card type can be opened, turned inside out exposing the white card stock inside to tape your target to. They make excellent targets for sighting...

How big is the spent pistol primer if you remove the little anvil in the center ?? Is it the right size then to fit firmly over a nipple ?? If it is a good fit, I wonder if you can refill them with priming compound and get a second use from them. Ohio Rusty ><>

    Wheel weight lead question

At the battle of Boonesboro, the defenders ran out of lead ball and the women resorted to melting down their pewter to make ball. After the battle was over, the defenders of the fort dug out of the walls 125 pounds of lead ball that was shot at them. Ohio Rusty ><>
