    Woodsrunner on the Way!

Jim's knowledge of originals helps us understand what the WR is a reproduction of. One of his very helpful videos explains his barrel is shorter than the originals to make it handier. I'd love to have the kit as my next Kibler, but I do wish the barrel was longer, just for aesthetics and to have...

    Hello from Montana

Welcome from the land of humidity, heat, mosquitos, snakes, swamps, and invading Yankees. I envy your location and rifle.

    Gun Cabinet for muzzleloaders

When I was a trooper and assigned to a rural county all the seasoned officers, both state and county, warned me about a dangerous individual who'd been arrested numerous times. He can't be taken without a fight so call for help if you have time. Some months later that person came by my wife's...

    Why are smokepoles so awesome?

I love it because it repairs the error that put me here 200 years too late.

    Patch knife carry

The older I get the less I carry. I never thought I'd abandon period correct. Now I don't even carry a horn nor a ball board. I do all my loading into speed loaders at home and I carry plenty in my bag. And they are store-bought PLASTIC things that hold one load to include powder, felt wad...

    WANTED Shooting sticks

My cross sticks lo these many years have been two dowel rods, stained dark, dull points to hold on the ground, and lashed together with a hinge of rawhide. Works great for those long shots at groundhogs and at any place I shoot where there is no bench. I used to use a bandanna from my hip pocket...

    SQUIRREL HUNTING RIG

I sure wish they would make the Crockett in a 36 or 45. That little bitty 32. I know the smaller ball is best for small game; I just can't seem to like it. It's popularity would carry over to a larger bore rifle with more punch.

    Poor man’s guns

Also M. DeLand, your skill and knowledge are well known. You've done nothing here but kindly offer all of us the best of that. Disregard him.

    Poor man’s guns

There is a very real appeal to poor boys if they have the graceful lines of period longrifles that today's builders hotly pursue.

    Greetings from Maryland.

Welcome from another Floridian. It certainly is hot, is it not? I've been here 9 years and do not love the summers. In the fall when I go back home to VA, I must buy the expensive out of state hunting permits. But go I do. I've not hunted in FL at all. The deer and squirrels live in swampy...

Kibler fowler - Has anyone shot round ball?

I wonder if a rear sight might be added? I think I couldn't want one without some sort of rear sight. I haven't look close at the kit, not enough to know if it is even viable.

    Poor man’s guns

I had a TVM SMR in walnut, .36 caliber. No embellishments at all. No side plate, toe plate, butt plate, or entry thimble. A round grease hole. Instead of a side plate, it had a single screw with a very large head. Iron mounted. I don't think they still offer it.

    Kibler Brown Bess?

I would not want a Bess. But as others have said, I'd certainly buy a flintlock pistol kit. Like his rifles, a pistol would be an item to use, display, and pass on to family. Most every home has room for one and it would be so nice for inheritors to explain its origin to visitors. And I can see...

Thompson Center 50 cal Hawken Flintlock...polish or not?

A polished rifle implies little use. So I'd clean it up good.

    .54 for Target?

I'm not much of a competitor but I didn't know about the center of ball thing. Very interesting and probably a fair method.

    A recent vivid lucent daydream...

Me too. Eric. Those few tend to ruin a good thread. If they are ignored, I don't get drawn into their hateful boasting comments.

    .54 for Target?

That right there is some good shootin'.

    Woodsrunner Question?

Good choice. Don't forget to let us see the finished product.

How do you load your fowler?

Never owned one. but if I did. I'd look up "Skychief's Load." That seems to be the gold standard.
