Hello from the Space Coast of FL.

Welcome from Ormond Beach. Fl, not so veryfar from you. You get any hurricane damage? Me, just a little.

    Anyone recognize this rifle?

A nice rifle. I love .36s. I had a t/c Seneca 36. I got no use for a 32, but the 36 is a terrific gun. I used mine for squirrels and boy that was fun.

Pedersoli announce a .54cal 'Hawken target rifle...

Not nice. Lots of us are ignorant about such things. Or beginners. Let's all be nice to one another.

Pedersoli announce a .54cal 'Hawken target rifle...

What's up with the rear sight on the Rocky Mt. model? Was that a sight that might have been used in the Hawken era. A very good looking rifle, but I've wondered about that sight since they came out. And do you reckon it has a patent breech?

    Fire starting

Good post. Another thing: I think you must surely be a kind and thoughtful person.

Pedersoli announce a .54cal 'Hawken target rifle...

I'm not sold on big name barrels. The most accurate muzzleloader i have or have ever had is a Pedersoli flintlock, an off the shelf .50. From the bench rested fore and after, groups stay within dime size at 50 yards. I've never fired it at further distance. The downsides are that it has a patent...

    Rabbit hunting and gear

A new snow on the ground for one full night leaves rabbit tracks. After two nights, the tracks are too numerous and difficult to follow. My favorite way to hunt them is to get to the hunting ground early that first morning. I've most always used a longbow and 11/32 wooden arrows. A 38 case fits...

    Rear sight for Kibler Fowler

Never had a smooth bore so I've no credentials or authority to say that it seems that a rear sight would have to help with round ball accuracy. If nothing else, would it not provide consistency, thereby telling the user if he needed further load development or not? And if he had plenty of front...

I have to rethink the spare cylinder idea

Well, i guess it is just semantics, but being unreal is not actually why they are called movies even though they are in fact unreal. I think the term movie came about when the industry first made pictures that moved. Uh oh, I'm getting way off topic and far away from muzzleloaders.

    Rear sight for Kibler Fowler

Me, I would not want a fowler without a rear sight. With roundballs, I can't see that the full accuracy potential of the long gun could be realized without a rear sight. Maybe Kibler could add that when you order. If not, I would at least find out if it might be done on your own. Hunting shots...

    Vent Pick Storage

When a'field, I keep a toothpick in my hair and find myself using it far more often than the brass pick attached to my bag strap. Oddly, I've never lost one of the toothpicks.

I have to rethink the spare cylinder idea

I often think that the improper era weapon and the handling thereof is the least considered aspect of movies.

    Offhand Accuracy

I still do that after 50 years of shooting.

    Offhand Accuracy

Outside or in your garage (inside with windows open) - pick a small target level with yourself. Plug the flash hole. Put a little bit of powder in the pan and close it. "Shoot" at the target. You will learn to allow the flash to occur without disturbing your sight picture.

Patent Breech Investarms Hawken failures to fire

To each his own, but if you dont use real black powder you don't live in the mountains of VA in 1750 like I do.

    Possibles bag, hard or soft?

I like very soft. Elk hide is my favorite. Such a pouch fills out in accordance with the amount of stuff in it but gets no larger. But I can see how a hard bag might make it easier to find things faster. Me, I don't put anything in my possibles bag that does not pertain to loading and tending to...

    Loading from the pouch?

The best advice has already been given: grip the rr close to the muzzle.
