    Woodsrunner Question?

I think the machine-carved stock Jim K. offers is just the right amount of carving. Much more looks tacky, IMO. I'm not able to spend what it takes for carving. I'd rather put money into a higher grade stock. Fancy wood plus carving is just too much money for some folks.

    Shooting Bench

I like it! You are a good carpenter. Did you have drawn plans? I bought my bench. Plastic with folding aluminum legs. Works fine but has no seat. I have to use a folding metal chair. I think a bench rest is a necessity for serious shooters. I'm always seeing "sight in" videos where the maker...

    Boiled Linseed Oil Finish?

I'm wondering if mixing in something like kerosene would assist the oil with penetration. Seems like i have heard of that being done. I know I once spent many days finishing a stock with just blo, allowing it to dry well between coats - advice from my dad. Turned out very nice. Durable enough...

That is good to know. Thanks.

    Who carries a purse?

During research for my first novel I learned the correct historical term is "possibles bag," and the contents were only what was needed for loading and maintaining the owner's rifle, and sometimes fire starting items. Of course that surely varied among individuals. The premise was that things...

    CLOSED Kibler fowler,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Mike, if I do not offend using your first name. I owe you an apology. I sincerely regret making the remarks about the Kibler you have for sale. I have no excuse. First, I'd like you to know I did not pay enough attention to your post to realize the Kibler smooth bore was for sale. My post...

I agree. No reason to use words like that here. Or anywhere, actually.

A Priming Horn by Spark Mumma

I for one would love to see some pics of those horns if you should ever find time. Maybe others would too.

I am an *****. Frustrated to the point of wanting to quit.

Sort of typical. When threads go this long they just seem to bring out the worst.

Lighten up because it doesn't bother you. Oh, okay.

All caps ought to be illegal. Distracting and rude.

    Browning a lock?

Got mine from Track. Not expensive. You likely will only use it just for this finishing. Even though I did disassemble lock, I decided to leave it as is.

Maybe he is unable to respond for some reason. Device crash, illness. emergency, etc. If not. he should definitely show some gratitude/respect.

IS THIS A SAFE SHOOTING BARREL?

Good looking gun. But hey, get rid of the all caps. Very distracting.

To Bounce or not to Bounce

Not to disparage anyone's style or method, but bouncing just seems showy and without purpose. Although we all develop habits, bouncing appears amatuerish. I don't see that throwing the rod down the barrel can have any affect on the ball as far as moving it unless it has been inserted very...

Too many options for rifle build

I might be the only person alive that will disagree that the rifles with a crescent butt plate are shot differently. I shoot crescent or flat the same way. Of course the flat butt will fit the shooter more comfortably if he thinks about it, but I shoulder them the same way with either gun and...

    Carrying a pistol

This will sound like a lie but it ain't. A nice buck approached where I stood behind a tree with my Chambers flintlock. I had the rifle up and pointing in the Buck's direction, hoping it would turn. He was coming at my position upholll. He didn't turn so st At 10 - 12 yards my only shot was at...
