    Visited his shop a few years ago while working just outside Budapest. He wasn't there but I spent a good couple hours talking to the staff, very friendly and knowledgeable gentlemen, unfortunately a rarity in gunshops in the USA that I've encountered.

    I mistakenly wrote they were model 1844 (which are smoothbore) when in fact they are model 1860 (which are rifled) these are 100% military guns made at the state arsenals of Tula, Izhevsk and the foreign contracted facilities, the decorated rifle is marked Tanner & Cie which is a firm in Liege...

    Rick that is one of the nicer cut down models I have seen. Usually there is very clear evidence of it having been cut down but this one looks as though it could have been made this length. Also of note, the lock has the triangular spring cover/guard that is usually only found on the pistols.
