    Toe Plate on your rifle

Was this gun made in Greenhill Alabama or in N. Carolina? Thanks for posting 👍 As too the OP like many others have said… I’ve always heard toe plates were installed too protect the buttstock from chipping… I can’t recall them being referred to as kick plates..🤷‍♂️

How Powerful are Black Powder Guns?? - Ballistic High-Speed

Muzzleloaders’s have proven themselves killing for centuries… Ballistics imho, has very little too do with taking a life.. .626 size hole with enough powder too punch through the ribs and into the vitals and it’s game over.. If you get a complete pass through, then your tracking should be...

What is your choice of shot container for the field?

I use the turtle bag for my shot, it’ll hold more than enough for a days hunt. I measure the shot load with my powder charger.👍

    Weird Things

I blew the nipple out of a percussion gun once…. Figured that was enough of a reason to shoot flintlocks from then on eliminating the possibility of that ever happening again.🤣

Main Charge Powder in the Frizzen Pan

Most places I shoot will scold you for loading with the pan closed…. **** must be in the fired position and frizzen remains open at all times .. Until you’re ready too prime and fire. However, at home I have loaded with the frizzen closed and I do get powder in the pan..😎 I can feel powder...

    Larger Flash Hole

A # 3 finish nail will go in the flash hole on my rifle & smoothbore.. It’s what I use as a pick when needed.. As far as loss of accuracy caused bye pressure escaping the vent… IMHO, the only possibility this could effect accuracy at the range these weapons were intended too be shot would be...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I’ve never got mine on fire but have got it caught in the slider on the tent ropes…👀 Not a problem, you just grit your teeth and rip out a chunk of your whiskers..🤣 In reality, once they’re caught between the rope & the slider those hairs are goners. I have singed my whiskers while in a fire...
