Pedersoli announce a .54cal 'Hawken target rifle...

Looks like the normal RMH (in walnut) they've had for a couple decades. Is there something different...little longer barrel...different twist?

    About your hunting rifles

Any muzzleloader I acquire is subject to being used in the field, plain or fancy. For small game I currently have a .62 smooth rifle and a .36 Kibler SMR. The .62 smoothie was built by a George Raasch of Indiana and has been on many of my small game hunts. My Kibler SMR .36 has also taken...

    Dirty Betty Makes Meat

Congrats on your hunt! 👍 I have not seen a clean barrel shot be that far off from a "dirty" barrel. That's a tremendous difference. I have owned over a dozen traditonal guns and have not had one yet that didn't hit in the same place clean or dirty. I work up loads on a "clean bore" basis...

Importance of Shot Placement vs Power

I agree until this: Damage and wound channel is what matters. Having "energy to spare" in a passthru means you delivered energy sufficient to create the longest wound channel and most damage possible...ALL OTHER THINGS BEING EQUAL. In the same wound channel scenario, the same style, size...

Some great shooting! Congrats to you and your dad! 👍

    36 caliber deer hunting

I cannot remember his username, but we used to have a guy on here from Ontario years ago that used .3X calibers on Canadian Whitetails, which would be good sized. He was also an exceptional gun builder. IIRC...he hunted with those rifles in a way similar to using traditional archery gear...

    40 cal. buck,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Congratulations! 👍😍 My first glance at the rifle and I thought "Kibler," but then looked at the entry thimble. Nope...has a tang. Beautiful rifle and buck.

    Now I will clean it.

Brits, congrats on a nice bunch of squirrels. 👍 Regarding your lube...does it only work with 4f pushing a handful of old mixed size airgun pellets or will it work as well with "normal" loads?! 😉🤣🤣🤣 Seriously...when it comes to blackpowder & hunting, you are a PROVEN master!

    Flints life.

I get around 25 shots before I give the edge a touchup and might get another 20. Since it's a rock it can also sometimes chip or break after a few shots, but rarely if you have it properly installed. I like a thin flat flint. No thick "humpers." Thin and flat lets you do a nice touchup on the...

Who Hunts Reg Seasons With Their Muzzleloader?

I have never hunted with a suppository rifle. I did hunt once with my Dad's .44 mag Super Redhawk during the firearms deer season. Otherwise, I hunted exclusively with bow until 2000 when I added traditional muzzleloading. 50+ years and haven't needed a modern rifle. Nothing against them...

    Pondering a flintlock. Educate me.

I don't have a Woodsrunner, only the SMR. For me, the SMR does not have enough drop at the comb. When I bring it up, I'm looking over the sights. Higher sights did help some. You may want to call Kibler to get more specs on each to help you decide which might fit you better. The great...

Not to derail this thread, but one's SS benefit calc is based on much more than one's best quarter of income. https://www.aarp.org/retirement/social-security/questions-answers/social-security-benefits-calculation.html

    Pondering a flintlock. Educate me.

I would think that hard sugar maple is going to be stronger than walnut. But then, you are making a fine rifle, not a club. Get the stock wood that trips your trigger! Personally, I found Walnut a little harder to work with...at least the piece I had liked to splinter...razor sharp tools are...
