Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

Nothing in the terms stated transfer through an FFL, so far as I can tell. Evidently this is a new thing, pushed on them from UPS. I have received the carbine. Fit and finish is fantastic. Unfortunately the loading lever latch does not lock back as it is supposed to. I have sent an email to...

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

The previous conversations I've been in involved handguns. I don't think anything has changed though.

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

That would be a 52-hour round trip. Not quite worth it yet but if shipping costs keep doing up...

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

LOL, no. I pay myself first and do what I want with my money. You guys are absolutely right that when buying a $2600 rifle with $150 shipping another $45 for an FFL fee is small potatoes. However, one thing I absolutely hate is feeling like I'm being nickel and dimed. I would rather pay a...

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

Nothing in the agreement says anything about having to ship to an FFL.

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

They charge $45. I'm not a regular at gun stores...I don't think I've bought anything from a gun store in over 10 years. Well, I bought some flintlocks from Cabela's a couple of years ago but they won't know me from anybody.

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

Naturally, having already paid $2600, I will pay another $45 to the FFL for the transfer.

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

I am certain you are correct. I had to press the lady on the phone asking several times "Whose rule is this?" before she finally said "UPS". When I asked if they could send it USPS she said, "If that was an option we would already be doing it." I found her manner very abrupt, abrasive, and rude.

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

Sending it to them would not be a problem - they are an FFL for receiving. Did they require it to go to an FFL when they sent it to you?

Can you ship a percussion Sharps through the USPS?

Today I received a call from Shiloh Sharps that my percussion 1863 Shiloh Sharps was ready for shipping. However, they said that it had to be shipped to an FFL. When I asked whose rules this was, eventually the lady said it was UPS's rules. I said you could ship through USPS and she said...

    What blows me away...

The longer I study history the more convinced I am that man has always been of about the same relative intelligence through all of recorded history. There were very smart people thousands of years ago, and they were only limited by the state of the art of technology of their era. But for any...

Is pure lead really necessary for muzzle loading balls or bullet in rifle or hand gun ?

It depends entirely on the application. If you are shooting military rounds such as Expanding Ball (Minie) or compression bullets, such as the Wilkinson or Lorenz style of bullets, then pure lead is a must. These bullets deform on firing and that is how they can load easily, being undersize to...

    To the older guys…

I wish they'd let us just dump bodies in the herbie curbie to go out with the rest of the trash.

    Howdy from Alabama!

If you're interested in shooting muzzle loaders from the time period of the American Civil War, check out the North-South Skirmish Association! I'm in North Alabama also (Huntsville). You are in the Deep South Region. All of our skirmishes but the November shoot are held at Brierfield...

USPS..... Here we go again 🙄

I, personally, love the USPS. "free" shipping supplies, and they pick up my packages at my doorstep. I pay online and print my own shipping labels. Very convenient and I always get good service here. Is everything overpriced these days? Yup.

    Pietta 44

A Pietta .44 should shoot fairly well with .454 round ball and 18 grains of 3F Foex, with 11 grains cream of wheat filler under the ball and lube over the top of the bullet. This is my N-SSA competition load.

    To the older guys…

Lots of great responses here. Everyone must do what they feel is best. Unless I end up needing the money, my guns will pass to my children. They have been competition shooters with me for the last 4 years so hopefully they will if nothing else remember their old man when they pick one up...
