Help ID + Condition Please - Pedersoli Rifle

If it were me and after cleaning the bore still looked like a sewer pipe I would strip it down and send it to Mr. Hoyt. and have him punch it to .54 smooth bore. Heck for around 75 bucks you would have a shooter. And out to 50 yards a smoothie will surprise you. Well ifn it has a rear sight it...

    SOLD TC Renegade 56 Smoothbore

Here is a Renegade (kit) that I just finished. I rescued it from a pawn shop. I have completely refurbished the rifle. The stock is finished with Minwax Antique oil and has two coats of Renaissance wax on it. The barrel WAS in .54 cal but the bore was rough. So it now has a fresh 56 cal...

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

I went ahead and matched the trigger guard and ramrod pipes to the barrel. This thing turned out great. I have decided I'm going to let it go and move on to another project. It should make someone a great smoothie.

    Patch lube.

YEUP! Just put a patch between your cheek and gum while shooting, then use that one to load or swab and replace the patch. when target shooting, I'll have patches in both cheeks. Spit is readily available and you carry it with you, works great for plinking. Before leaving the range I'll swab...

IS THIS A SAFE SHOOTING BARREL?

That's a fine looking rifle. I would verify it wasn't loaded, then run a lubed patch down the bore feeling for anything odd. Then I would have no issues shooting (as was said, one grain for every caliber, in this case 50 to start) it.

    1858 truck gun.

I used to load the exact same way. But after watching and Old Ranger test video on YT and then going out and doing my own bench rest test. I found the same thing he did. My revolvers shot better without the felt wad. So ever since then I just use grease over the chamber mouths.

69 Caliber Buck 'n Ball Ammo?

I wanted to know why too. But the employee just said " they were not in good shape" ?? Whatever that meant. If it is a kit how can that be? If I was a factory rifle, they WHY. Inquiring minds want to know.

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

Go Make an offer. You can send the barrel to Mr. Hoyt and have it rebored to .54. The lock is pretty simple and most likely fixable.

69 Caliber Buck 'n Ball Ammo?

0000 Buck is .375" I believe. But anyway, following to see what the consensus is.

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

Well, she's done! Sort of. I finished the barrel and tang with Jax Black rubbed back a little. The trigger guard, ramrod pipes and rail are Birchwood Casey brass black rubbed back. I actually like the way the brass black rubbed back looks. But I still may take the trigger guard, pipes and...

    1851 navy hunting

His pistol is legal in his state. I use the Kaido 240 grain Conical. Anyone can use any Conical in ANY repro revolver if you have a loading stand / press. I prefer to load Conicals with one anyway. We need another GOOD press to come on the market since Big Lube shut down. Lastly, I don't go...

    1851 navy hunting

The bullets Mr. Smith uses is the Kaido 240 grain. They are very accurate in repro revolvers. Mr. Kaido Ojama himself hunts with these bullets as do many of the people who bought his molds.

    1858 truck gun.

You know come to think of it, I haven't had a cap and ball not reliably fire after being loaded for a while. I've had them sit in the safe for God only knows how long and they fire off just fine. I've been carrying my snubby since I got it ( a year and a half now) and it has been 100%. So...

    1858 truck gun.

I have went a few months without firing my '60 snubby and it went off with no problems. It is carried outside a lot but stored inside in the pistol safe. So your's being in the truck may be the difference. What is your loading regimen? I clean the chambers out with denatured alcohol first...
