Powder Inc. doing a little price gouging?

I believe the late deer season flintlock only keeps the interest in bp alive in PA. Many hunters use flintlocks just to get another deer. When I would come across other hunters during the regular firearm season, I would get looks like I was from another planet because I was carrying a 60cal...

Powder Inc. doing a little price gouging?

My local gun shop has RWS 1075+ for 41 bucks per tin of 250. No hazmat or shipping charges, only tax. I bought 4 tins. Hopefully the other manufacturers will get some out into the market.

    Chiappa 1842 Rifled Musket

I just checked Dixie Gun Works and they have a 1842 smoothbore in stock also made by chiappa. I think that the smooth bore would be more period correct, however, I am in the dark when it comes to the quality of these guns.

    Chiappa 1842 Rifled Musket

I have an itch that needs some attention. Are these Chiappa muskets any good? Taylor’s has one in stock but I have no knowledge or experience with this manufacturer. They are not cheap, but what is now a days. Thanks in advance for any replys.

    Eye injuries from flintlock?

There are some really fine pictures of flintlocks being fired. The flash in the pan is a real explosion happening a few inches from your eyes. I wear some safety glasses whenever I shoot my flintlock. It might not look period correct, but my 70 year old eyes are worth the protection.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Shot 18 rounds out of my new Uberti Dragoon 2nd model until rain chased me inside. I got to figure out a way to stop the loading lever from falling. Tying a piece of leather around the barrel doesn’t suit me well.

whats your favorite part of muzzleloading, what keeps you hooked?

It forces us to SLOW DOWN and go through all the steps just to get one shot off. Shooting modern guns doesn’t give me a quarter of the satisfaction that a muzzleloader does. Even shooting my cap and ball revolvers take time and concentration to load. The only other thing that gives me such...
