To bend your barrel or not that is the question?

I’ve not had any problems getting them to line up. The wood will conform to the bbl. Just spring the bbl in the direction you want your ball to go.

Will 1:66 Twist For A 12" Pistol Barrel Work

1:20 would be ok. A pistol doesn’t use much powder and the ball has a short time in the bore therefore needs a faster twist. It’s not that the slow twist bbl wouldn’t work but it will likely not have the accuracy potential of a fast twist pistol barrel. Go to pecatonica River website or similar...

Will 1:66 Twist For A 12" Pistol Barrel Work

Factory Patriot barrels aren’t 1:48 more like 1:18. 1:18 to 1:24 is what should be used for best results. I sure wouldn’t spend all the time it takes to build a gun and use a sub par barrel.

    Brush for cleaning bottom

I make my own for flat face breeches. 50 cal and under are straight wall pistol cases. Best way to clean breech face is to plug vent or nipple and pour in some cleaning solution and let sit a couple minutes and then use a scraper followed by the brush.

Alpaca makes for the best warm socks and hats.

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

Update. I bent it again last week and went to the range to try it out. Over bent it and it shot to the right. Took the barrel out at the range and laid it across a bench and pretty much done a CPR palm on it to take some spring out. Now hitting good at 20 to 50 yards. Shot a woods walk...

    Real Sperm Whale Oil?

I do have several old mechanical clocks😁 It’s in a sealed hot sauce size bottle with a crafty whale label. Suppose I’ll just put it on the collectible shelf to look at. It is labeled not for sale.

    GM Barrels fromTOTW

TOTW house brand barrels are not marked with anything. At least the .36 I bought last year wasn’t.

    Can I improve this?

Brushes and scrapers make a happy and clean gun. I make my brushes with stiff nylon bristles. Gun is clean when a light is cast down the bore and it reflects back off of the shiny breech face.

    Can I improve this?

I use gasoila pipe thread sealant on all my plugs and liners. It’s good stuff and never washes out. I use red lock tight on left hand percussion drum threads with good results. I always use the semi permanent chambers white lightning liners.

    Can I improve this?

Remove touch hole liner. Counter bore plug face or radius if you want, but make a scraper to fit. Dry fit liner and contour to bore ID and file or ream about 1/16 in of the lands at breech face to bore dia. Remove liner/ install plug then liner. Problem solved without moving anything or...

    Can I improve this?

Remove breech plug and chuck it in a lathe and counter bore the plug to groove diameter at needed depth. Easy fix that works, I’ve done several. Nice flat breech face with no nasty notch.

    LH in a RH world...

I’m gonna say probably not but if you see a prospect ask about it. Maybe a straight edge along the centerline showing it does or does not.

Cleaning Between Shots with a Shotgun Muzzleloader.

Too much swabbing will most likely muck the flash/powder channel up causing misfires and anguish. Liberal use of lube on your wads like others have said will eliminate the need for swabbing.

    Muzzle filing to adjust POI

I got it used years ago and don’t know the exact alloy of the barrel so not going to guess wether normalizing in a a furnace or anealing would do it any good. If I still had my shop I’d try driving a bore size mandrel down it and shot peen the outside 😁
