Was Dutch right about wiping between shots?

As already stated Dutch's system is best applied to competition shooting and must be followed faithfully. For a simple day at the range of casual shooting his system is a little much. If you master the system you will get results. But if you are not looking to be a top of the line shooter...why...

    Ugly Stained Stock

I swear patina worship was developed by some self appointed experts back in the 1800's to feel important and come off smarter than the other fella. Dude, that isn't character, it is dirty, old and keeping it in that state is the real shame. Bringing an old item back to as near as new condition...

    Ugly Stained Stock

I am the oddball around these parts. Have no use for patina. Never understood the love of patina....it is crud, dirt, neglect.

Anyone ever hunt with a handgonne?

??? Seriously? Maybe I am going to be the fly in the punch bowl on this one but that is not a wise plan nor is it an ethical weapon for hunting. Yes some guys can shoot fairly well with such a weapon, but it is still not a great choice. I get wanting to hunt traditional, farthest back I'd go...

    Buck vs Doe

It is rare the yearly regulations allow us to take doe. I wish they did a better job counting the deer here on the east side of Washington state. If they did and considered how many hunters we actually have yearly I believe we could take doe or 2 every year. But they have weird math that takes...

WANTED Looking for a CVA Bobcat Hammer

If you are looking for a Bobcat, keep your eyes out for the CVA Mountain Stalker and the CVA Plainsman. All 3 are mostly the same gun. Plainsman has a wooden stock. Some early Bobcats and Mountain Stalkers also do but the vast majority of them were made with the black plastic stock.

    What is this musketty thing?

probably the best bet on the thing pity the OP doesn't own the gun so we aren't getting more pictures

    What is this musketty thing?

the lock and barrel are older than the wood, though the wood sort of looks aged a bit, considering the barrel condition and the condition of the wood, no way that is the original stock for that barrel looks like a cobbled together job probably decades ago, the craftsman was decent but not an...

Opinions on Pietta 1851 Confederate Navy revolver?

I have the very same gun and I like it. I shoot it with modest loads and it works great. Probably will stretch eventually but it doesn't get shot often. So that is likely a problem for someone in the future. Shoots well enough. It is not a 'historic gun', but it does work the same. ;) If you...

How Powerful are Black Powder Guns?? - Ballistic High-Speed

Yeah....these gents demonstrated how deadly these guns are and show clearly it isn't something to take lightly. But the pistol and rifle locks in their guns leave a lot to be desired compared to some of the ignition times I have seen with higher quality weapons. I also find myself wondering what...

    Weird Things

I almost had one of them Tingles for real cheap back in the late 80's, but I hadn't heard of such a gun before and I was skeptical of the gun. Go figure eh?

    Weird Things

woke up once with a family of deer looking at me from about 10 yards away tried real hard to be slow but my first movement set them off and they were gone before I could shoulder my rifle cricked my neck good sleeping like that but it was restful, didn't get a deer that year

    Weird Things

ease of loading is 100% the reason I use a Conical on my second and subsequent shots (although I must admit I have never needed a 3rd bullet....) If I use a TC Maxi-Hunter 275 and 10 grains more powder than my PRB I get pretty much the same shot group as the PRB. I have a mold for them but I...

    Weird Things

I shot at a deer, missed....35 yards, how I missed I don't know, I am pretty sharp with that rifle. Looked at the deer looking at me, called over to the deer 'if you are still standing there when I get reloaded I am shooting you'. Loaded again with a conical because that is my second shot due to...
