    Burst barrel

Some people just can't let this India made gun quality issue go. It will never be settled conclusively, and people who have taken a side seem unable to look at it objectively or with any proportional perspective. It's kind of sad really.

Hard to believe some don't get your "tongue in cheek" humor, eh? I get it, and don't entirely disagree with you 🤣

    India Barrel Failure

Our barrels are proofed by legal council. The ever-present threat of lawsuits keeps barrel makers on point. They wouldn't dare, knowingly, put a risky barrel out there.

I don't know,,, they seem to be "the best" at having "tech support" centers. Which is amazing seeing as they are also the best at having very sketchy wiring and electrical work. They are also some of the best at polluting water. But they are also some of the best at curry.... I myself prefer...

How to start a new topic....

.... based off an ancient one. Based off this resurrected topic, https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/good-1st-time-flint-smmothbore.6470/ ,from 2005 which raises some things worth discussing, but no sense answering a 19 year old question again.... Copy the URL or address of the topic...

    Good 1st-time flint smmothbore?

Okay, so continuing this topic from 2005,,,, how well does that gun group off the bench? I agree, that isn't deer hunting shooting from offhand,,, but that doesn't mean one can't get deer a gun/load that will group better from a more supported position. Sub 4" at 50 yards is a more than...

    Good 1st-time flint smmothbore?

So start a topic, asking in generalities what things to look for and what pitfalls to avoid. Keep in mind that some of the deciding factors for you personally will be determined by your own intended use for the gun. I own a Centermark Fusil des Chase (my first flintlock smoothbore) and a TVM...

    Latest addition to the herd

Nice find @Eterry I'd like to find similar in a small bore, like .410 or .45... May we please see the inside of the lock amd details of the hooked breach? Also, what do you look for as a "go or no go" indicator/s for whether or not one of these will be serviceable? I might have looked at that...

    Good 1st-time flint smmothbore?

Yup, but some folks always need the attention and have to put their 2 cents in, especially of they can use it to promote themselves..... But, maybe a discussion,,, in a fresh topic,,,, of what makes for a good starter smoothbore wouldn't be a bad thing?

    Be advised....

What different Walmarts stock varies by location. Even within a few towns of eachother. The one a few minutes from home from me stocks almost no hunting stud of any kind, if I drive to the one near work, about 25/30 minutes away, they have a lot of hunting stuff (including modern black powder...

Wow, I hope the OP comes back and sees he finally got his answer. He waited from 2014 until 2016 when he was last on this forum. Better late than never?

    Burned!

I haven't bought a lot either, but 98% of what I have bought has been as good or better than described. One item that was not was easily fixed by a friend and the difference between description and what I received could be attributed to a difference of how we define our adjectives 😉 The other is...
