SOLD PRICE REDUCED AGAIN! - Beautiful Pedersoli .72 Cal Brown Bess. Restored. Excellent Condition, Fine Shooter. FREE SHIPPING.

All of the above is absolutely true. But it’s also true that if a young man decides he had enough of Making the World England…and of the Colonies and their 8 year long war with England…he could certainly depart for the frontier with this gun in hand and not give a damn what anyone said about it...

If I wanted a buffalo rifle.....

The ads for caps in St Louis newspapers first appeared in 1829. Getting them there was hard enough. The ads cost money. None of that would have occurred for a product for which there was no market. So the market existed prior to 1830 and was large enough to make it worth pursuing.

    Early Lancaster vs. Late Lancaster?

Great thread. Thought I would resurrect it to ask a question about barrel length. How long are the barrels of the Leman guns above? When would have 42” barrels have fallen out of style? Are there Lancaster styled guns made in the 1820s with 40/42” barrels?

If I wanted a buffalo rifle.....

OP, I think your flint vs percussion timeline has some real issues, but yes lots were shot with flint for almost 200 years. Shooting Buffaloe is not about hunting as much as it’s about making meat and all the other things that come from putting one on the ground. Any gun of the period works...

Have you tried the Williams bullet? They shoot the best in my carbine and load just as easily. 65 grains of 3F

    40 Kibler SMR,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

One day… Absolutely fine work sir! I want just that rifle at some point. Not Need…just Want. But I keep going back and forth between 40 and 36. Love my 40’s…they do anything. Rabbits to hogs. But that sweet 36 bore keeps singing to me…

Possibles Bag and Powder Horn Proper Carry Position?

I have several that are buckskin, need lining to hold up. I suspect that buckskin was more valuable for other uses in the period.

    WANTED Wasp Nest

I use paper wasp nests. You can find them everywhere if you start looking. A dime sized chunk under the patched ball on top of the powder. Or bit larger piece to hold a ball down on the powder in my smooth guns.

    SOLD .44 Kentucky flint pistol

The lock screws (someone help me out…there is an 18th century name for them) appear to be case hardened. Nice feature, and doesn’t surprise me on a gun of this quality. Pics don’t show it well, but the color is there.

    Wall mounted rifle display

He definitely wants to participate, but I think the minimum age is 16, so that’s next June. I want to do it as well since I’m a 6th generation Texan, the boys are 7th. Have a ranch property near Yorktown, so Gonzales is easy! That weekend is the Texas SWAT Championship so there’s no chance for...
