    Hi there from Central PA

    Greetings from Centre County

    Let's talk BALLS!

I have been casting my own balls for a while. I have a lifetimes supply of lead and I shoot a lot so it’s not worth me buying balls. Plus it’s rewarding using something that you made. Especially when you shoot an animal with a ball you cast. Kinda like tying your own flies

    .445 mold

Well I’m a *******. I looked at that mold several time and kept reading .445. But then again today I looked and it is .454. Looked at the box and lo and behold it’s .454. Even checked and yup I ordered a .454 mold by mistake. Know anyone who might want a .454 mold? 😕

    .445 mold

Gotcha, I prefer a bit of a tighter fitting combo since I shoot a fair amount of paper and steel. Friend of mine with the same gun uses .445 balls with great success. The balls I poured do stuff down the barrel but they are difficult to get started

    .445 mold

My lead is pretty pure I have bricks that came from a certain power plant that had an accident in 1979. I have poured 100’s of balls for my 54 and do not have that big of a diameter difference in the mold size vs the actual ball

    .445 mold

I recently bought a Lee double cavity .445 mold to use with my 45 SMR. I poured a bunch of balls with it and when I measure with my calipers I get .455. Anyone else have this issue?

I had no idea a Kibler was like this

I watch his videos and the one he put out after this he says how he put the front site on backwards on purpose. He thought he might be able to help him see better. He said that it didn’t help and would change it to the correct way. Don’t know why he did that with nose cap

    And yet another Kibler SMR

Nice I’m working on a cherry SMR. I’m thinking of not staining it and letting Mother Nature darken it. What finish did you use on the iron?

Performance difference between Goex & Swiss powder ?

It’s a good read. He gets a little dorked out at times but for the most part it’s easy to read.

Performance difference between Goex & Swiss powder ?

I don’t think there is any commercially made powder that’s better than Swiss. Goex is made to Mil Spec. The military isn’t worried about cleanliness. Swiss powder is similar to powder that we made in the later 1800’s when the quality of powder was superior to what we have today

    Goex Upsetting Dealers

I’m pretty sure the goex at friendship was delivered by “Deer Creek”. They are a distributor, so it wasn’t a factory direct shipment

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Joann fabric has flannel on sale for $4.99/yd. Picked up a few yards for cleaning patch’s and worked on my Kibler SMR

Any chance we'll see powder from Goex in 2023 ?

Goex will have powder out when the military is happy with what they are putting out. Their powder is mil spec even what they sell to us. That’s why it’s dirty. The military doesn’t care about how clean it shoots just density and burn rate. I’m sure the stock pile has dwindled since the...

    Touch Hole Picks!

I turned this out of some antler. Used copper as the pick and hair from a pot bellied pig as the brush.
