    WANTED Ruger Old. Army

So, am I the only one confused here? OP is legitimately looking for a stainless ROA, who the hell is Phil and what is he selling on someone else’s post?

need help with percussion hammer striking nipple to high

Are longer and taller interchangeable here? I’m sure replacing the lock plate won’t be an option but it sounds like you’re saying use a paper lock plate just to get the appropriate hammer dimensions?

bought a JM Caswell smooth rifle please help

I asked Ken to take pics of the sear, because don’t think the bushing is original to the lock. I also suspect the tumbler may be a replacement since it looks suspiciously like a cva tumbler. There is over travel ( a lot) past the full **** notch. A little forward/backward wobble of the hammer...

need help with percussion hammer striking nipple to high

I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I’m lost as to how you increase that distance without changing a lot of things on the lock.

Any other crazy kids out there?

I tried a bb gun fight with a friend once, about 12 years old. I stopped that when I had a bb bounce off my upper cheek below my eye. Decided at that point, it was pretty stupid.

The hammer on this lock is a TC, from a Hawken or Renegade. What is the easiest solution? Replace the hammer, or modify the existing hammer? It's a TC so it's not a travesty to modify it. I'll probably be the one doing the modifying, and I'm hesitant to hear and bend, or heat via welding to...

SOLD copy 69cal Towers Dragoon flintlock Pistol in wood box.

By the looks of the lock, Japan made. I’ve had a couple of these, robust guns.

SOLD Tom Nixon 1855 3 band Springfield

I have a Hawken built by Nixon, he does very nice work.

The Search for a Vintage Cornbread

Forgive my ignorance but are we talking about mixing actual ash from a wood fire into something to be eaten?

So, A Mountain Man Walks Into A Gunshop....

He'd probably walk out with the cva cuz it's all he could afford. Saw a TC Hawken at auction 2 weeks ago, brought $500. Not mint, with a scope mount out on the barrel. To be fair, it did have a greenountain barrel, but $500!

please help to i.d. this Charleville musket reproduction

The pic of the front band does have a brass turtle site. You can also see what appears to be pitting that has been well cleaned. Second pic is the bottom band, third pic is the middle band.

Fire bluing, are you just getting to that color and taking the heat away? Or do you go above that heat range and it settles back? No concern about metal integrity on parts like the ****? Just curious cuz I've never done it.

please help to i.d. this Charleville musket reproduction

Before typing further, I will say I am no expert and don't know a lot about military muskets. But ... I don't see a female in that medallion. I don't see African trade gun either. Front barrel band looks to be old, and cleaned, as does the ramrod. Inletting on the lock is well above tradegun...

Truth be told, it's my basement, and that's my South bend 9". Turkey roaster makes it easier to get the chips cleaned up.

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

There was a thread not too long ago from a guy that killed a deer with a 36 revolver. Surprised me.

T/C Renegade: Another “damaged in shipment” story…

I separate TC's for shipping and wrap the barrel and stock individually. UPS is a pain in the neck depending on whose at the counter. But, is it just me, or is that a strange break to run almost parallel down the wrist into the butt stock. Maybe Im seeing it wrong.

    Pistol for edc?

Nope, sorry, can’t answer it, as I don’t see where the OP says it’s all he/she they/them can have.
  19. R

    Pistol for edc?

If you feel the need for and edc, and absolutely need it to be BP, have at it. But, if you really feel a need for an edc, there are far better options than a BP pistol.
