Have you ever shot a "slug" of lead?

I've got one of those molds I believe. Don't really have a use for it but I've got one lol

Which state is the best for ML?

Only got Thursday and Friday off work this year for gun and just sat and sun for muzzleloader. Got a few days off to use though so I'm trying to get all of muzzleloader off.

Which state is the best for ML?

Is around here lol barely get any time to hunt and I've probably got 30 or more full days in the woods and I've seen 2 deer in places I was tripping over them 10+ years ago.... if I don't get special time off work I get maybe 4 days to use a muzzleloader cause our seasons are so short and I...

Which state is the best for ML?

Can't say ohio.....Ohio...... I haven't seen a deer in the woods and we only get 12 days 9 of which are regular gun season. Not enough state land for all the gun hunters and since leases became a thing private is nearly impossible unless you wanna fork out a bunch of money. Also seeing as the...

    New from Ohio

Usually out at dads. Never actually went to a range. I live about 5 minutes from pleasant valley wildlife area. Haven't really hunted there much for a while other than some coyotes. I'm fairly close to the airport but Dad lives in the hills above massieville.

    New from Ohio

I'm just a little ways south of you. If you are interested in flint locks I can help you out. Trying to get dad to order a lefty though he doesn't seem to have much trouble shooting the right handed ones..... This forum is a treasure trove. Welcome from Ross county.

Yeah I just haven't got to it lol

    Figuring flintlocks

Both my locks will light 2f. Ones a kibler but the little tiny pedersoli Kentucky lock on my .32 will light 2f also. Also takes almost no prime in either one to set off the main charge. I would say I usually over prime a little. If I don't wipe the bore I've never really needed the vent pick...

    The "Critter Gitter" Pic Thread.

Not much time lately lol what if my deer gun is also a small game gun? Lol anyways here's a .32 that drives me insane. Then the.58 smoothbore Really considering having the .32 bored out larger. I like how cheap it is to shoot but it just gives me all sorts of loading issues.

    Velocity vs Penetration vs Expansion

Just watched a YouTube video (ilovemuzzleloading) where he shot a .490 ball against several Conicals and the ball actually out penetrated the Conicals. Of course the initial I pact was no where near as impressive. Not sure on range either but I know he said the ball was around 1900 at the muzzle.

A Black Powder Hunting Tale of Woe and Misery

Even using 50/50 olive oil beeswax I almost can't load the gun with the wooden rod. And it doesn't shoot anywhere near as good..... The ballistol will get me squirrel eye groups at 25 but the beeswax lube might get a head sized group.... And if I load a looser patch it looks like a buckshot...

A Black Powder Hunting Tale of Woe and Misery

Did this in the spring on a squirrel. After two shots the .32 is practically impossible to load with the rod on the gun. Well I shot at a squirrel and naturally missed. So I poured powder short started my patch and ball and guess what? Couldn't get the ball to move..... Had to walk the...

New Muzzleloader Shooter Hold Over Question

What are you doing with the gun? If you're just shooting steel or what not at 50 yards or so then sure. If hunting small game sure. If I was hunting deer and such I would probably go for an inch or two high at 50.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Ordered a new set of primitive style sights for my .32 pedersoli Kentucky. The factory ones are so coarse I don't know how they ever made it onto such a small bore gun..... Probably pretty good for deer though really. Big bold and easy to see there's just too much air in there and the front...

    The Best Muzzleloading Movies

Haven't had a chance to watch it but there is a movie called "field of lost shoes" I believe for free on Vudu right now about a military academy of boys who were forced to fight in the civil war. Not sure what battle or what not but it said based on a true story I believe. If anyone is...

.311 prb started 1600 at the muzzle with 10mph crosswind. Just in case anyone is curious.

What’s Your Favorite Long Gun that You own.

Don't have a lot to choose from. I got the beater percussion .50 I started with. Then I bought a pedersoli kentucky .32 in flint. Still fighting with it to get it shooting the way I would like. Put a kibler colonial together over a couple weeks recently. Was kind of a rush job cause I wanted...

Uneventful so far (or the story of the plastic cow)

Sure is I've never pit anything in a patch box and I don't really care for the way the wood ones look anyways

    Vent liner

It actually does not have a patent breech. The liner would probably be about the right length if it did. Shortening it is easy I just wanted to be sure there wasn't some reason I shouldn't.
