    Mink Oil

    I use mink oil in my hunting rifles, both flint and percussion. I’ve left them loaded weeks at a time without issue. I personally wouldn’t do that with a spit patch or water based lube.

    @deerstalkert It’s funny. I bought a couple of unmentionables this year. Fixed ‘em up - sighted in - ready to go. But every time I go hunting I grab a ML. As you say “my heart’s not in” the unmentionables. I’m much happier with my ml rifles/shotguns. And I kill the same amount of game.

    Started the new year off right. Took the little Border Terrier on another duck hunt. Santa brought her a dog blind. The little Pedersoli 20 is just right for the way I hunt.

    Globe front sights

    It’s counter intuitive, but you may find the large aperture front insert to be more accurate than a small one. Intuition says “the small one gives less error”. The large one however allows more light and gives you better alignment around the target. Play with it and see what works for you.

    Thanks. The flask is a Hawksley style flask for powder. I have it set to throw 2 1/2 drams of 2F powder. Sorry I don’t have a pic handy of just the flask. It might show better in this one

    She had a second breakfast of 2 fried eggs with cheese on top. Then after the birds and gun were cleaned we both took a nap together. She is a happy dog living her best life.

    Took the little Border Terrier for another duck hunt this morning. She got 8 water retrieves and located one cripple in thick brush. The little 20 gauge Pedersoli got 4 and my son got 5 with his new fangled smokeless contraption.
