    Drams to Grains?

Lol - we were circling the same idea… Isn’t the internet great?

    Drams to Grains?

Right, but what I’m pointing out is that for example- one of my measures throws closer to 3 drams when it is actually set to 3 1/2 drams. So you have to check how much they actually throw. I’m sure they all have variance, particularly with different brands of powder

    Drams to Grains?

Measure what your flask actually throws. I have found mine don’t necessarily throw the drams indicated.

Best place to purchase possible bag

Yes, the classified ads here are a good place. The Contemporary Longrifle Association always has bags by artisans there as well. Between all the choices here there is something for every taste and budget.

    Shot Wiping

Some rifles, ML or unmentionable, shoot to a slightly different point of aim between the first shot from a clean barrel and subsequent shots from a fouled barrel. If you're a hunter then you have to know the difference (if any). When target shooting you can always fire a fouling shot to settle...

    Gun Flints

@Red Owl I'm a relative newbie to flintlocks. I've been shooting them seriously for about 8 months now. On average I'd say I get about 25 shots per flint. As some have said I've had one break after a couple of shots. Some last a long time. I'm not good at knapping flints yet so I probably don't...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I went to a local gun show yesterday. First one I’ve been to in probably 20 years. It was fun. Only a very few tired old TC muzzleloaders. There was one surprise- a new in the box Pedersoli Gibbs long range rifle. The story all too common. Guy passes away and the widow gets a friend to try and...

    Everything .40 Cal. Muzzleloader

I just recently acquired a .40 with a 1:48" twist barrel. After only one range session I found a load it seems to like well. No loads in the rifle shot poorly which was nice. These are 40 grains of Swiss 3F, .389 round ball, ,018" pillow ticking pre-cut patches I lubed with mink oil from TOTW...

    Southern "Bear" Rifle

I like the way you did the patch box. A beautiful rifle.

    Oil finish on a stock.....

If I have a rifle that is older and I want to add some oil to the stock - the "once a year for the rest of it's life". Is there a difference in boiled linseed oils? For instance, I know painters often use highly refined linseed oil for painting. Is that siutable for a very light oiling? I'm not...

    Found a 40 caliber

By the way, @AZ Muzzleloaders had a part in this as well. He and Mike work together. I heartily recommend both gentlemen. They are honest and good folks.
