Under normal conditions I don't use blocks either. However, if I'm shooting a timed competition I will.

    Anyone recognize this rifle?

I have a very early Turner Kirkland rifle (1952). Its lock does not look like that; it has a small critter engraved in it.

    Repair or replace

Personally, I'd go with a repair first you can always replace it later if the repair is unsatisfactory.

Fun True Story from this weekend

Back some years ago I'd dress out to hunt, with buckskin pants, a wool shirt, and a capote. Just like most states Hunter blaze orange is required didn't have much choice in the vest but I did buy a blaze orange Toque.

Show N Tell your first MLer rifle

The first ML I bought and used for years was a Ted Hatfield half-stock in .54. I got it in the early 80s. It was a nice-looking rifle and very accurate.

    About your hunting rifles

I have several rifles but generally hunt with only one, it's a custom made SMR that I've had for 30 years nothing fancy plain walnut stock and iron furniture. It's the most accurate rifle I have and is in .45.

    cheek slapper

Yep. Most of the original rifles I have are too short LOP and don't shoulder well.
