    LOOKING FOR BUFFALO TONGUE RECIPES.

In days of yore, all the hunters would eat from a buffalo was tongue, hump and sometimes boss ribs as it had the most fat and was the most tender. There was a thriving trade in smoked or salted buffalo tongue to the east, so much so that many a less than honest hunters would kill cattle and...

WANTED Renegade breech plug or trashed barrel to salvage one

Tap and set the screw in place with some JB weld on the set screw while insuring none gets into the flash channel. You can then file it flush. Just make sure your small as possible gives you enough threads to engage and hold the set screw. Red loctite works also, but do remember that to...

I double down on what SDSmlf is saying. He got me started pinning my nipples (sounds ouchy, doesn't it ) and my experience tracked his experience, which I never doubted. Boring out the nipples is a easy fix, but essentially the wrong one. As the orifice erodes to larger and larger, you...

    LOOKING FOR BUFFALO TONGUE RECIPES.

Boil tongue in salted water, peppercorns and bay leaf. Peal the outside off. Slice thickly and fry lightly in olive oil. Layer in casserole dish and cover with Tomate Frito, bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Serve with lots of bread. Tomate Frito In stock pot cover bottom of pot with 1/2 inch of...

That's ok, I knew what you were using by the velocity and your previous posts on No Excuses. I shot them with 90 grains also and that is very close to the velocity I got also with a 23" and 24" barrel.

    More pain for science!

Off a bench, yes, it might, but I use a gel pad and I have shot well over 250 shots using comparable stout loads in 58 cal and 54 cal working up my Thumper Carbine loads and it isn't bad at all. In your typical hunting stance, sitting, standing kneeling, it is no worse than a high based...

I am getting 1530 fps mv using 110 gr of T7 FFFg with 485 gr No Excuses using an oversized OP wad in a 23" barrel. The New Englander is 26", if I remember right.

Especially T7...but I think he said he just bought the FFFg. But it could still be old if purchased from a retailer. But approx 1400 FPS out of a 28" barrel for a 50 cal 420-460 (I guess I should learn to read and retain better) a 54 cal 485 gr no excuses using T7 FFFg is pretty spot on...

I am using TOW musket nipples, RIO musket caps and T7 FFFg in T/C renegade and hawken barrels bored out by Hoyt and I am having no issues. Try sticking to the finer grain powder as it gets into the flash channel easier when you do the "bump". The TOW musket nipples pin out at .027/.028. I was...

    not shooting

Be heading your way in January for a month or so. Going to fight the Canadian snow birds in the BLM LTVA so I can do some physical rehab from pending surgery. Too cold and too frosty to do much outside around here if it is going to be anything like last year. Spent many a month in Yuma flying.

Black Powder Banned at my Gun Club!

Not the astro turf, rather unburned powder from regular cartridges that the hot spent cap ignited. When managing an indoor gun range we used to get flash fires all the time and periodically the carpets on the shooting positions would ignite from the powder. All it needs is something HOT to...
