I have a couple of Spanish friends who moved to the swamps out of New Orleans and learned their English there. Both retain a heavy Spanish accent. But it is their English I can't understand. It is funny to hear them speak Cajun English with the Spanish accent.

What kind of stuff do you all read?

Exactly. I can blow up the font while hunting and not wear my glasses in case something shows up!

What kind of stuff do you all read?

I too read on a kindle and it sure is nice. I take mine while hunting and read while waiting for something to show up. Helps pass the time. Along with Naval History, I try to read every contemporaneously written book of the trapping, Indian Wars and generally the 1800s

Musket cap nipple hole size ??

My musket nipples from TOW (stainless steel) pin out at .027/.028 At .030 I monitor them. At .035 I replace. My old Zoli all had overly large nipple holes, as was the style of the times. Pin gauges are your friend...

    Another Roach Belly

I rounded it on purpose! I made it like the knife I used in the packing houses when I worked in them. Basically a specialty blade. a Skinner is too rounded, but a roach belly works perfectly if you round the tip and dull it. My turn to knife when doing lamb, deer or elk to get the hide off...

    Another Roach Belly

@Two Feathers I used to make knives back when, but not forge them (had the blanks cut out from an old two person spring steel whip saw with a plasma cutter a friend had) If people realized the work involved, they would see that you are making pennies per hour for the hours you put into them...

You are right. Nothing seems to be moving, even with what was called very reasonable prices only 6 months ago. Beautiful knife. Roach bellies can be particularly handy if you are dealing with game and meat often.

That was done in 1828 with the release of the above mentioned dictionary. Old Noah Webster was tired of the English and their extra vowels and the "beyond ..... absurd" use of the letter k. https://www.merriam-webster.com/wordplay/noah-webster-dictionary

HAHA We speak English in the USA only in the loosest definition. As a matter of fact we have our own dictionary that started around the time of our second casting off of the Crown in the 1800's. It's called the Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language. Anyone who would add an...

This is completely unlike Mexican chorizo. The only thing similar is that is red and goes by chorizo. This doesn't need to be cooked as it is cured and is only made from pure pork meat, usually shoulder. No lymph glands, offal, parts and pieces like Mexican chorizo Simple ingredients, pork...

I make 60 lbs of chorizo a year (dries out to about 40 lbs) Vac pack it after it has dried and lasts all year. Just a little of what I have set aside. Now if I can just tap that elk in a few weeks to fill the freezer, I will be good to go.

I make cobbler once a week. This week was apricot, last week was peach. Blackberries are just now coming on. This apricot cobbler was extra nice cause I swiped the apricots off a tree on a canal bank right of way that nobody claims, which makes them taste better. Too lazy to make pie crust...
