It does have a Belgian proof mark but that doesn't mean the pistol was made there. Relic shooter

Bullet suggestions for a 1:48 twist

Grenadier 1758 brings up a key point concerning depth of rifling. Many like myself on this forum have collected & used original flint & percussion firearms in competition for 6+ decades & can verify the following barrel specs. I personally preferred hunting & competing with early large bore...

    Old French flintlock pistol

Nice quality pistol Tony R, thanks for sharing ! Many earliest model flintlocks tend not to have a bridle on the tumbler, I suspect yours may date to the mid 1700s. Maybe a closer look will produce name of the maker so you can get a more accurate date of manufacture.

Pedersoli Kuchenreuter pistol review w/ Match tuning

Nice fast twist rifling & looks deeper like quality originals would have. For the retail price the bore should have already been in premium shape. lapping in a choke towards the muzzle is nice winning touch :thumb:

Pedersoli Kuchenreuter pistol review w/ Match tuning

Early European Makers Set World Standard for Quality & Accuracy. I wholly agree with with No second place & other members that a pistol's grip configuration combined with fine quality locks, set trigger & barrels play a major role in how well we score 'if' shooter has a very steady hand :)...

    Rogers & Spencer review

We agree on all points as to R&S being ideally suited for serious competition. If repro R&S was fitted with a 1 in 14" twist barrel with .008 deep rifling it would be unbeatable. The original R&S I shot in competition in my younger days with it's gain twist barrel never lost 1st place if I did...

    WITHDRAWN 1863 Swiss Infanteriegewehr

This 1863 Swiss Infanteriegewehr rifle appears to be an excellent option for a hard core competitor & antique arms collector.. For fine competition accuracy over my 40 yr. stint I've always prefered original muzzleloading English & European rifles & pistols as most have faster twist rifling...

    Trade gun for grizzlies

In my 60+ years of muzzleloader hunting in numerous states I always packed a large bore handgun as backup against 4 or 2 legged predators. Basic common sense always prevails over regulations/gun laws.
