    This one's pretty but odd

Neat historical firearm !! After 60+ years collecting some early guns like yours have no specific pedigree / label other than being a neat colonial era firearm. As Daryl states it certainly does have the attractive lines of a Fusil de Chasse & I suspect a frontier gun builder used parts...

WITHDRAWN Original French Double barrel pistol, Officers, Coach or Howda Pistol ?

Rare French pistol with beautifully patterned damascus barrels, hard to find in this well cared for condition. This belt carry pistol measures 14.25" overall. Barrels are 8.25" long Weighs 2 &1/4 lbs. The fluted & carved walnut stock remains very solid with just minor dings & two almost...

Random photos of famous ML percussion/flint guns, or rather guns owned by either famous people or during famous events

Thanks for the memory :thumb: I was fortunate to shoot this neat historical rifle 50 some years ago while picking up barrels from a maker in Montana who contracted to clean & preserve the rifle for the museum. Relic shooter

Random photos of famous ML percussion/flint guns, or rather guns owned by either famous people or during famous events

I was fortunate to check out one of Browning's percussion rifles with a 5 shot harmonica magazine. Pretty clever setup, breech of the barrel had a coned extension & each chamber in the magazine was relieved to fit & when moved into each firing position a camed lever would firmly seal the charge.

Rehardening frizzens - one size fits all? Musings for metallurgy masterminds....

This hardening subject has shown us many ways to refresh a frizzen 😂

Rehardening frizzens - one size fits all? Musings for metallurgy masterminds....

Thanks to 'all' for the great frizzen hardening tips ! I'm building a flintlock Kentucky style pistol from parts I acquired in 1972 while employed in the ML business.. Can't say for sure but I think the unfinished & unhardened lock components are Hamm ? Lock was missing the fly so I formed...

    How Indian flintlocks are made

India is one of the counties that doesn't like it's citizens to have firearms. Without touch hole it's a non-gun.

    How Indian flintlocks are made

In my senior view, India mfg. guns make excellent learning tools if your somewhat mechanically inclined, enjoy learning, going to stick with muzzleloading & love flinters. :ghostly:

Rehardening frizzens - one size fits all? Musings for metallurgy masterminds....

I harden plates to speed up lock time & hardened & quenched the plate vertically to avoid warpage & that worked. Sometimes the bird of paradise flys up yer who-haw :dunno: Always best to have a plan B ready.

    How Indian flintlocks are made

ThIS PISTOL SOLD RECENTLY :thumb: Video shows pistol throwing sparks ! Many parts & the barrel were stamped with number 3 to denote what gun they belonged to, were they mfg in India ??? Who cares as where else could you acquire this style of a French military pistol. If you do purchase a gun...

Rehardening frizzens - one size fits all? Musings for metallurgy masterminds....

OOPS ☹️ All parts cleaned up great except the lock plate. I had polished the lock plate & all components prior to starting hardening & tempering. All came out perfect except the 'hardened' lock plate now has shallow freckling on both sides due to surface carbon loss. Be very pleased if anyone...

Results pending on lock kit from 1972 Tips from fellow forum members who are more up to date on this process are much appreciated :thumb: This was a lock kit minus the sear & fly I acquired years ago while actively building & restoring muzzleloading firearms in my then well equipped shop...

1864-produced Remington 1858 New Model Army: trigger weight should be???

Sounds like your about ready for some competition shooting bczrx :thumb: Judging by originals I've tuned I doubt the hammer notch & sear will need to re-hardened after stoning. If concerned can rub handle tip of a file, not the cutting surface over face of the notch & sear tip to check...

Anyone else's gun like a very tight load ?

By sticking with the patch lube described above in competition with my custom guns & originals grouping & ease of loading remained the same without wiping between shots. Just an option to try in case a fellow shooter is having issues.
