    1861 Springfield hammer adjustment

Not really. Somebody has attempted a "trigger job" and botched the geometry on the tumbler.

    Rapine Trash Can availability?

That is NOT THE TRASHCAN and I've tried that minie and it did not perform well. In this pix, the third set from the left is what the Rapine looks like. Note the square edge on the top. The Lee version is more rounded. Second from the right is the RCBS Hogdon. On the right, the Moose...

    Rapine Trash Can availability?

Calipers- no. You'll only get into the ball park. You need these, or go to a local machine shop and have them do it for you...

    Rapine Trash Can availability?

    Rapine Trash Can availability?

Ditto- check your bore size FIRST and that means measure it. Moose makes the only version of the Trash Can currently in production. But it won't shoot unless you have that bore size correct.

    Bullet moulds

Try that with Civil War arms. You'll find that even if you buy lead at spot market price of $.92/lb you still come out way, way better casting your own. Not to mention that each gun "likes" bullets sized to it for best performance. So casting comes with the territory if you're serious about...

    1861 Springfield hammer adjustment

There is no adjustment. Since you're in NC, why not bring it by the Recruit Skirmish we're holding at Statesville on 3/9? We shoot these in competition and can give you some idea of what you might need to do.

    To ARMS!

The Carolina Region of the North South Skirmish Association is going to be holding a recruiting skirmish for those who aren't currently members to come out and try our sport. It's competition shooting as a team against other teams and the clock. Date is 3/9/2024. Place is Statesville, NC...

    Musket Cap Source?

If you're serious about musket accuracy, forget anything CCI. Like real black powder, thanks to fed and ins regulations, finding stuff local is most likely not going to happen. Pony up and get with local reenactors or a NMLRA charter club and order in bulk, split the shipping and hazmat charges...

Historical military style rifled muskets poll

He's essentially correct about progressive depth rifling. Not many options out there. He's not quite right about "N-SSA Approved". Just because it is "N-SSA Approved" doesn't mean squat about the rifling. It's more about the external features and dimensions. As for "modern improved minies"...

    Lee 54 mold undersized

If you add a bit of tin to the lead, it will cast a bit larger but be warned, many muzzleloading bullets, minies in particular, work best with pure lead. You might get away with it in a REAL or round ball. Try that.

    Lee 54 mold undersized

I have had a philosophy of "buy once, cry once" for a long time. The money you spend gambling on low quality products from Lee will nearly equal buying the quality item once and getting it right the first time. Save up, order the Accurate mold you want in the size you want. You won't be...

    Euroarms P53, help me out

Value is based on who made it. If it's a Parker Hale Birmingham, go buy it right now. Anybody else, it's still a deal, but don't get a speeding ticket on the way.

Historical military style rifled muskets poll

Having been a reenactor back in the day, I still enjoy that part although I no longer participate. Now I shoot in N-SSA competition so that covers targets. Bang bang, muzzleloader or not, let's go shooting! History, great fun shooting stuff that would otherwise may as well be art on a museum...

TC barrel windage out by 20 MOA

Before molesting the rifle, let somebody else shoot it to rule out operator error. True story- I had an adult Scout leader constantly off 6in right at 30yd. Great groups just waaaay off. Everybody else shot the same gun dead center. Found out the leader hitting 6in right had eye surgery as a child.

Large cast lead round musket balls

Tanner. You'll have to deal with the sprue but the mold will drop at the desired size if you're using pure lead.

sighting in a .58 rifle musket for 200 yards

Lots of really good advice here. Get the rifle to group at 50yd first, then start extending out.

    Minié ball casting results

I cast minies a bit large for the rifle in question and then use sizers to insure size and correct diameter. All this AFTER I've weighed them. Since I shoot competition, I really care about accuracy and there's a bunch of variables that go into that and weight, diameter and size consistency are...
