Traditions PA PELET ULTRA LIGHT FLINTLOCK 1/28" twist round balls

Guys I hunt with use the PA conical in the Traditions. No patches, so they are quick to reload. They say they get good accuracy.

    TN DEER II

    Excellent!

New guy looking for some tips

Start by keeping the pyrodex away from your flintlock. The flashpoint is too high for fast ignition, and naturally that can lead to poor accuracy. Keep the primer in the pan at a minimum. Usually only one press from the pan charger is enough. Too much powder is a burn, you want flash. I...

    Pedersoli Jäger or Kibler SMR

I had two Pedersoli Jaegers. Both had poor geometry locks that needed much work. Standard model has fast twist, target version slow twist. Both on the heavy side over 8 pounds, probably 9 as I recall. Sold both. Bought an in the white Kibler SMR in 45. Weighs 6 pounds 2 ounces on my food...

What’s Your Favorite Long Gun that You own.

I really like my newer Kbler 45 cal SMR. Nice for a lot of reasons.

TVM Late Lancaster in .45 . . . looking for input.

I have the straight 36 inch in 54 caliber with a Siler lock. It is very reliable and accurate. In 54, the balance is forward, but not what I would consider heavy out front. Previous I had the 42 inch 54 caliber Rice swamped barrel in a TVM Lancaster. It was a bit long to put across my...

    How much is too much.

I had a Pedersoli Mortimer. Pedersoli said it is 10.13 pounds, but mine was 10 pounds 9 ounces. It was pretty hard to carry all day. It was a great rifle, just too heavy for walking in the woods.

    Questions on the Kibler Colonial

I bought a Kibler in the white SMR, and it probably took less than 8 hours of work to finish. Now that I have all my stuff ready, and some experience, I probably could get it finished in half that time. I ordered a woods runner, and looking at the videos, I'm guessing 8 hours. And to clarify...

    Kibler SMR ordered

I tried the jacks black they sell for barrels, and in my experience it was not good. I sanded that stuff off, and used birchwood paste cold blue. That was 100 times better but also wore off pretty quick around the touch hole.

    Kibler SMR

Myself I bought the standard wood, and it is pretty nice in my opinion. I hunt mine, so they get their own character from bumps and bruises.

    Woodsrunners

I put in my order for a 54, standard maple. Lorie said March or April.

Round ball and 50 grains in a 50 cal. for whitetail ?

Personally I would try a different diameter ball or different patch and try to get good accuracy with 70 grains. If the rifle shoots 50 good, then there is probably a good 70G laod combo. In my opinion, a clean kill is worth some range time.

Replace Front Sight on my Kibler

The "slot" is bigger than the standard 3/8 dovetail, and not as deep. I put on a 2 part fiber optic sight. A thin threaded nut fits in the slot, and snugs up to the sight via an hex screw. When my gun smith comes back from a hunting trip, he will machine in a real 3/8 dovetail. I already had...

    SOLD Jaeger sling

As shown in the last picture, the hole for the button is on the right side. It is under the adjustment buckle.

    Really hard to load.

I would lap the barrel with some polish compound. I use a paste for stropping knives. Propably make it easier to load and clean.

Original 18. Century Germanic Jäger Rifle
