    Woodsrunner

I ordered a SMR today, and the lady said they may start shipping woodunners the beginning of November. Order now, and expect a spring delivery, because there are over 300 on order. My order was very smooth, and the SMR will ship tomorrow. I actually wanted the woodsrunner, but not a long...

    .45 Kibler on the way

Very confusing with all the possibilities for finish. I think most options work very well. I saw people building Kiblers in "schools" on youtube, and they used Formbys Tung oil. I have some, so that is good enough. I got maple, so Ill start with aquafina iron solution, then see what it looks...

How far must you travel to hunt?

10 to 30 miles usually. No need for a camp. I have 2 state forests in that distance with 500,000 acres of public land.

    Late English locks

I owned a Pedersoli Mortimer in 54 caliber. It was a super heavy rifle or I would have kept it. Again this is a sample of 1, but that was the best lock I ever had. Quick, ultra reliable, and easy on flints. It was also good in the wet, reliable for hunting in wet snow.

Shredded Patches – Suggestions on what to do?

I don't know the solution, but I liked reading the suggestions. Since you changed powder, changed patches, ran scotchbrite down the barrel, I would say the crown issue is a strong possibility. I hope you get is solved quickly. Good luck.

Thoughts on why he shoots to the right.

Squeezing the grip, or yanking the trigger could be the cause for a right hander. I think dry firing with a wood flint will help with determining the cause.

SOLD Pedersoli Jaeger Flintlock Target Rifle Reduced price

I bought this about a year ago, and it was very hard to find the target version in the US. I don't think any are available now as far as I checked. I sent the lock for tuning by Brad Emig, receipt shown. I did nick the stock putting it up on the wall before I even shot it. The nicks are...

    Hunting in the rain

I tried a bunch of things, and I don't have it figured out. My best solution is a towel wrapped around the lock to absorb the water. Humidity also soaks the prime, so it is good to dump the prime often.

PA Flintlock season December 27, 2021

Went today with a dozen guys. I watched first frive, pushed deer after that. Got 6 miles in, but never saw a deer. Other guys saw 10, some saw none. Young guy missed his first flintlock deer, so that was a big experience for him. He saw 10, so it was a great day. 100% rain tomorrow, so I...

    Interested in starting engraving

I am ready to retire, and always thought it would be noble to learn to engrave. So I was hoping that peoples experience could guide me to proper equipment and resources. I guess I need an engraver tool, vice, learning aids, and a lot of practice. So any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Help me get started properly

I would agree that the angle of the flint to the frizzen is important. The drawings are good, but the flint strikes the frizzen at an arc, so it is a little more dynamic than the drawing. I think you can adjust the flint by observing the contact with the frizzen as you slowly lower the ****...
