Got an old gun and would like to see anyone could give me any info on it .

The name on the lock is either the lockmaker or the hardware store that sold the lock. Look hard on the top flat of the barrel between the breech of the barrel and the rear sight for a name or initials, which would be the gunmaker. You might also sign up with the American Longrifle Forum, the...

    My new toy

Depends on where it's sold. Last one I had at a gun show was not as elaborate as yours and sold for $125.00. So, without holding it (which is the best way to value something, holding it) somewhere around $ 150-$250. An antique shop might be able to get $250-$300. Just depends on the "marketplace".

    new to me Crockett .32

Another method for removing a separated bore brush, that works on many calibers, is to buy from a hobby shop or plumbing supply, copper or brass tubing that is longer than the barrel and the outside diameter of the tubing is just a bit smaller than the bore diameter of the barrel. Grease the...

    My new toy

Belgium produced thousands of them and many went to the US. If the pistol was to be sold in other European countries or the UK, the country importing it, would send the gun to that country’s national proof house to be reproofed. Its a boxlock action in that the hammer is in the middle and is...

A Very Unique Ruger Old Army

The PO of my Ruger "Old Navy" .36 caliber revolver, custom-made by the late Tom Ball, NMLRA & N-SSA pistolsmith, loaded 14 grains of GOEX 4FG in his target loads. In 1997, he won the NMLRA National Pistol Championship. He shot three black powder handguns, including the .36 caliber revolver on...

A Very Unique Ruger Old Army

Notchy Bob, NMLRA National Rules state that if a competitor wishes to use his/her C & B revolver, such as a ROA, in the [Single Shot] Pistol Aggregate, they must load and fire only one chamber on the cylinder. Thus, the revolver becomes a "single shot" percussion pistol for that particular...

A Very Unique Ruger Old Army

I don’t think this is designed for CAS, but rather its likely geared to NMLRA national match competition shooting. This kind of shooting requires a whole different set of equipment and accessories. Holsters are not allowed on the line. Competitors load only five chambers, not six. So, the...

What has happened to the American Longrifle site?

I cannot access the ALR using Safari on my iMac. But I can using Firefox. The message I was getting had to do with the Apple's Safari version. To access, I would have to have at least OS 10.10.9. My iMac is 10 years old, and my OS is 10.10.5, but I can upgrade to 10.10.13, so I'm planning to...

    introduce myself

Welcome to the Forum. AKA "Muzzleloading College". So much to learn here, even for this almost 74 year old starting back in '57. Those were the finest guns in the CVA traditional line, IMHO; I believe the barrels were made by Douglas or Green Mountain out of WV; have two in flintlock.

FOR SALE TC Renegade .62 smooth barrel for sale

To clarify the barrel fit, it will fit the T/C Renegade in .50 & .54, of course, and the T/C Hawken, but only in .54 caliber. It will not fit the T/C barrel channel for the .45 & .50 calibers. The .45 & .50 caliber barrels are 15/16" across the flats.
