    What is drill cloth?

Order arrived safely today, looks as described, my micrometer measures it at .018" uncompressed and .009" compressed. I cut and lubed some strips with 1:6 ballistol: water, they're drying now, can't wait to try them.

    CURIOUS ABOUT CONICALS

Don't really have a purpose in mind, I'm not really a hunter, as I said am "curious" about conicals. Have heard folks make fantastic claims about centerfire like performance, but always figured muzzleloaders where limited by burn characteristics and pressures of black powder, and the ballistic...

    T/C Seneca .36 caliber

No, worse. Bought the lifelong dream collection of an aging friend, selling off his stuff. Many had never been fired, and where never listed online.

    CURIOUS ABOUT CONICALS

Would cast lead .40cal or 10mm pistol bullet work in the .40cal? Or a cast lead .358 pistol bullet work in the .36cal? What about a .32-20 bullet in the .32cal.

    CURIOUS ABOUT CONICALS

Am fairly new to muzzleloading, less than a year now, have never used anything but PRB'S except mini's in .58cal P-53 musket. Have several T/C's and am curious about choosing/using conicals in them, especially in the smaller calibers .32cal, .36cal,.40cal. Please educate me.

    T/C Seneca .36 caliber

Just recently bought a .36cal and .45cal Senecas, have never shot anything but round balls, my 36cal Senica seems to like 30gr FFFg Swiss, .350" RB with 10oz denim patch pre-lubed with 1:6 Ballistol:water. That being said... I also have a .36cal Rice barreled Hawken comming, and am curious...

    What is drill cloth?

I guess the OP never came back, but finally got notified Jo-Ann's had it back in stock, immediately ordered 10 yards, that should last me a while. I just hope that they haven't changed the product, saw one review stating that he had been buying it for years to use for patch material, and the...

How tight to patch a ball

Thanks, As I add to my collection, have to do load development for each one, have been trying to get a little more organized about it, almost have it down to a predictable process now. Here are my pre-lubed patche materials. And my range box. My little family of T/C's is growing faster...

    Calibre questions

I now have barrels in each caliber, .32, .36, 40, .45, and .50cal. Initially, didn't like .32cal at all, my 5/16" 10-32 range rod was too big, so was my short starter. Had to buy and start carrying a 1/4" 8-32range rod and accessories, was using thinner patch/lube, and too light a charge, and...

Training techniques to improve offhand shooting.

I've had Jim Ownens book since the 90's, used to shoot Service Rifle averaging 96% agg's, even tried to get enough leg points to go distinguished, but back then couldn't afford to travel to enough matches, then went to F-class and benchrest, and lost my position shooting skills, that's why I am...

Training techniques to improve offhand shooting.

What is the best way to train for offhand shooting? The last few matches, have consistently shot about 75% on paper, about 30/40 on sillhoettes. Have been practicing on steel targets @ 25 and 50 yards. Cost and availability of caps/lead/powder lead me to put identical sights on a HW-85 spring...

.32 caliber frustrations with not grouping.

Below are load development targets shot yesterday @ 50yds with new .36cal T/C Seneca. Went from left to right, top to bottom, shot the center last. increasing FFFg charge 5gr. each successive target, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40gr. Decided to stick with 30gr. for now, will try varying patch material next...

.32 caliber frustrations with not grouping.

Many of us old farts can't even see a pinky finger sized hole at 25yds, much less put 5 shots into group that size using iron sights, even if the gun/load are capable of doing it.

.32 caliber frustrations with not grouping.

My experience is a little different, I typically use the Dutch Schutz method, after numerous trials, settled on 1:8 ballistol and water, shooting consistently under an inch. Experimented with numerous concentrations of Dawn, olive oil, tallow, etc... even tried several commercial products, and...

.32 caliber frustrations with not grouping.

I'm also new to .32cal. Recently bought a. 32cal Green Mountain drop-in barrell for my T/C Hawken, and a .32cal T/C Cherokee. Both are shooting 1-2 inches at 50yds using balls cast with a Lee .311 RB mold, .015" pre-lubed pillow ticking over 15-20gr FFFg. To pre-lube patch material, I place...

    What is drill cloth?

#40 is the drill size or guage of the thickness of the cloth. Found it on their website. Unfortunately says no stores in my area have it in stock, and is not available for shipping 😢
